262

Mr. Buck stated that he would like more information
about why the Rivanna Water and Sewer Authority did not feel
the basin would be cost effective and questionedthe
justification for the City contributing financially to a
solution for a problem created by development in the County.

Mr, Fisher noted that under the current zoning and
comprehensive plan, Crozet is the only area in the County
where growth and additional major sewer connections can
occur.

It was agreed that further information would be
supplied to Council before a final decision is made.

Mr.~ Timothy Lindstrom, member of the Albemarle County
Board of Supervisors, stated that the State Department of
Transportation will be requesting that the Metropolitan
Planning Organization amend the CATS Plan to eliminate the
proposed interchange at Rio Road and Route 29 North. Mr.
Lindstrom noted that as he understands it, the project will
not be eligible for federal funding if the Plan is not
amended by the locality. Mr. Lindstrom stated that he
felt it was premature to amend the Plan given the lack of
current destination and origin figures and given the study
being conducted by the Department of Transportation and
recommended that the City representatives on the MPO not
agree to amend the Plan at this time.

Mr. Buck stated that while the Council had not taken
formal action on the matter, he agreed that it would be
pre~atu__re to amend the Plan at this time.
~~/~~~eeting was adjourned. ~ ,~ C e~k ~

NOTICE OF SPECIAL MEETING

A SPECIAL MEETING OF THE COUNCIL WILL BE HELD ON Thursday,
August 13, 1987 AT 7:30 p.m. IN THE Basement Conference
Room.

THE PROPOSED AGENDA IS AS FOLLOWS:

Work session with Planning Commission:
Work session tO discuss the following:

Urban Design Plan

Conflict of Interest Law
Drainage Projects
Capital Improvement Projects

Executive session to discuss personnel matters as exempted
by Section 2.1-344(a)(1) of the Virginia Freedom of
Information Act.

BY ORDER OF THE MAYOR BY Jeanne Cox (signed)

BASEMENT CONFERENCE'ROOM - August 13, 1987

Council met in special session on this date with the
following members present: Mr. Barnes, Mr. Buck, Mrs.
~Gleason,~Mr. TOwe.
