NEILMAN FOR <br />$6,750.00, AND TO AUTHORIZE THE MAYOR'S SIGNATURE ON THE <br />DEED OF CONVEYANCE" was offered and carried over to the next <br />meeting for consideration. <br /> <br />ORDINANCE: AUTHORIZING DEFERRED COMPENSATION PLAN <br /> <br /> Mr. Hendrix stated that the Deferred Compensation Plan <br />would provide City employees an opportunity to set aside <br />their own funds as part of their fringe benefits and though <br />no City funds would be involved, the Council must authorize <br />the Plan as the City would become the custodian of the <br />funds. Mr. Hendrix stated that the plan would be <br />administered by a private firm. <br /> <br /> On motion by Mrs. Gleason, seconded by Dr. Hall, the <br /> ordinance entitled "AN ORDINANCE TO AMEND AND REORDAIN <br /> SECTION 20-21.1 OF ARTICLE III OF THE CODE OF THE CITY OF <br /> CHARLOTTESVILLE, 1976, AS AMENDED, RELATING TO PARTICIPATION <br /> OF CITY EMPLOYEES IN A NEW DEFERRED COMPENSATION PLAN" was <br /> offered and carried over to the next meeting for <br /> consideration. <br /> <br />PUBLIC <br /> <br />There were no matters by the public. <br /> <br />OTHER BUSINESS <br /> <br /> Mr. Towe stated that it was his understanding that <br />resurfacing the track at Charlottesville High School is <br />being considered for the present school year. <br /> <br /> Mr. Towe stated that outstanding athletic awards will <br />be presented at the Charlottesville High School vs. <br />Albemarle High School football game by the Mayor and <br />Chairman of the Board of Supervisors on September llth. <br /> <br /> Mr. Towe wished the outgoing Chairman of the Board of <br />Supervisors, Mr. Gerald Fisher, well and good luck. <br /> <br /> Mr. Hendrix reviewed the damage caused by the 6" to 7" <br />of rain which the City had received during the day. Mr. <br />Hendrix stated that house trailers on 6th St. had been lost <br />in the flash fooding and damage had been done to many of the <br />parks, especially Azalea. Mr. Hendrix stated that the City <br />was fortunate that no major personal injuries had resulted. <br /> <br /> On motion by Mrs. Gleason, seconded by Dr. Hall, <br />Council unanimously voted to meet in executive session to <br />discuss personnel and legal matters as exempted by Section <br />2.1-344(a)(1) and (6) of the Virginia Freedom of Information <br /> <br /> eeting <br /> <br />President <br /> <br />was adjourned. <br /> <br /> <br />
