Noes: <br />None) to meet in executive session for the purpose of considering the acquisition <br />or use of real property for public purpose, or the disposition of publicly held <br />property, as authorized by Section 2.1-344(A)(3) of the Virginia Code, and more <br />specifmalty described as Union Station and property on Etliott Avenue, and for <br />the purpose of consultation with Iegal counseI and briefings by staff members, <br />consuItants or attorneys on tom matters pertaining to actual or probable litigation, <br />or specific legal matters requiring the provision of legal advice by counsel, as <br />authorized by Section 2.1-344(A)(7) of the Virginia Code. <br /> <br /> Council reconvened in open session and, on motion by'Mr. Toscano, <br />seconded by Ms. Richards,_ certified (Ayes: Mr. Caravati, Mr. Cox,.Ms. <br />Daugherty, Ms. Richards, Mr. Toscano. Noes: None) that, to the best of each <br />member's knowledge, (i)' only public business matters lawfully exempted from open <br />meeting requirements by Virginia law were discussed in the executive meeting to <br />which this certification resolution applies, and (ii) only such public business matters <br />as were identified in the motion convening the executive meeting were heard, <br />discussed or considered by the Council. <br /> <br />The meeting was adjourned. <br /> <br />NOTICE OF SPECIAL MEETING <br /> <br />A SPECIAL MEETING OF THE COUNCIL WILL BE HELD ON Monday, May 10, <br />1999 at 7:00 p.n~ IN THE Basement Conference Room. <br /> <br />THE PROPOSED AGENDA IS AS FOLLOWS: <br /> <br />Work Session: <br />Composition of the Charlottesville Redevelopment and Housing Authority <br />Property Rehabilitation Tax Abatement Proposal <br /> <br />Executive session as provided by Section 2.1-344(A) of the Virginia Code <br /> <br />BY ORDER OF THE MAYOR <br /> <br />BY Jeanne Cox (signed.) <br /> <br />BASEMENT CONFERENCE ROOM - May 10, 1999 <br /> <br /> Council met in special session on this date with the following members present: <br />Mr. Caravati, Mr. Cox, Ms. Daugherty, Ms. Richards, Mr. Toscano. <br /> <br />COMPOSITION OF THE CHARLOTTESVILLE REDEVELOPMENT AND <br />HOUSING AUTHORITY <br /> <br /> Ms. Richards, referring to notes made at'the forum held to discuss the Housing <br />Authority's role, said that the notes generated by her group did not sufficiently reflect the <br />consensus of the group. Ms. Richards said that the group felt that the Housing Authority <br />should concentrate on good management of public housing. <br /> <br />Mr. Cox said he feels the Housing Authority should be represented in some form <br />in- the City's Housing Strategy, perhaps by the Director, and lower income housing should <br />-be incorporated into higher income housing developments. <br /> <br /> MS. Daugherty proposed that the Board include three City Councilors in order to <br />keepa close link between Council's policies and the Authodty's policies. Ms. Daugherty <br /> <br /> <br />
