133 NOTICE OF SPECIAL MEETING A SPECIAL MEETING OF THE COUNCIL WILL BE HELD ON Friday, May t4, 1999 AT i2:00 noon IN THE Clark Elementary School. THE PROPOSED AGENDA IS AS FOLLOWS: Luncheon meeting with School Board BY ORDER OF THE MAYOR BY Jeanne Cox (signed) CLARK ELEMENTARY SCHOOL - May 14, 1999 Council met in special session on this date with the following members present: Mr. Caravati, Mr. Cox, Ms, Daugherty, Mr. Toscano. Absent: Ms. Richards. Mr. Harley M~fles with the Charlottesville Public Schools gave a presentation on the School% technology programs, explaining that the State has computer and technology standards that must be met. Mr. Toscano said that the School Board may have to make choices and set priorities in the future in order to pay for technology. Mr, William Symons, Superintendent of City Schools, said that the City and Schools need to develop a vision for the Schools, with community discussions, and suggested that the Mayor, Chair o£the School Board~ SuperintendenL and City Manager begin the discussion by meeting to plan a structure and process. THE PROPOSED AGENDA IS AS FOLLOWS: Executive session as provided by Section 2.1-344(A) of the Virginia Code BY ORDER OF THE MAYOR BY Jeanne Cox (signed) SECOND FLOOR CONFERENCE ROOM - May 17, 1999 Council met in special session on this date with the following members present: Mr. Caravati, Mr. Cox, Ms. Daugherty, Ms. Richards, Mr. Toscano. On motion by Mr. Toscano, seconded by Mr. Caravati, Council voted to meet in executive session for the purpose of routine annual performance evaluations of specific public officers and appointees, as authorized by Section 2A-344(A)(1) and for the purpose of considering the acquisition or use of real property for public purpose, of the disposition of publicly held property, as authorized by Section 2. t-344(A)(3) of the Virginia Code, and more specifically described as property on Elliott Avenue. Council reconvened in open session and, on motion by Mr. Toscano, seconded by Mr. Caravati, certified (Ayes: Mn Caravati, Mr. Cox, Ms. Daugherty, Mr. Toscano. Noes: None. Absent: lVls. Richards) that, to the best of each member's knowledge, (i) only public business rnatters lawfully exempted from open meeting requirements by Virginia law were discussed in the executive meeting to which this certification resolution applies, and (ii) only such public business .matters as were identified in the
