179 <br /> <br />further contribution to ICMA-RC or other deferred compensation plan <br />beyond that amount shall be the sole responsibility of the City Manager." <br /> <br />Insurance Benefits - A new Section 12(C) shall be added to said contract <br />section entitled '~Insurance/Benefits", to read as follows: <br /> <br />C. The City will pay premiums, not to exceed $2,500 per <br />year, on behalf of the City Manager on a life insurance <br />policy issued by a mutually acceptable insurer. This <br />insurance coverage will be in addition to the standard City- <br />paid life insurance provided to all full-time employees. <br /> <br /> BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that all other terms of said 1995 contract, as <br />amended, are hereby reaffirmed, ratified, and renewed; and that the Mayor is hereby <br />authorized to sign a new contract to be dated July 1, 1999, between the City Manager and <br />the City, which new document shall be under the same terms and conditions as the 1995 <br />contract, as amended herein and as changed by intervening amendments approved by <br />City Council in 1996, 1997 and t998, above, all in a form to be approved by the City <br />Attorney. <br /> <br />PUBLIC <br /> <br />There were no matters by the pubtic~ <br /> <br />OTHER BUSINESS <br /> <br /> Mr. Caravati expressed frustration that Rio Road has reopened and no traffic <br />calming measures are in place on Park Street. Mr. Caravati suggested installing <br />temporary measures, such as a portable traffic light at Melbourne Road, since other more <br />permanent measures may take up to a year to happen. <br /> <br /> 1Vk. O'Connell said that the City is contracting with a firm to look at traffic <br />calming on Park Street, and he feels the issue needs some study so matters are not made <br />worse. Mr. O'Connelt said that the study should be completed in 60 to 90 days. <br /> <br /> Mr. Toscano agreed that traffic calming efforts could be set back if something is <br />not done right, and could affect the balloting procedure for future projects. <br /> <br /> Ms. Richards noted that traffic signs and lights have a way of increasing speeds <br />on roads. <br /> <br /> Mr. Cox asked for a status report of the development proposal by Mr. Stan Tatum <br />for-the property adjacent to Pen Park. <br /> <br /> Mr. Satyendra Huja, Director of Strategic Planning, said that adjacent residents <br />were met with Iast week and another meeting is scheduled for July 28t~. Mr. Huja said <br />the design committee has also met to discuss the proposal. Mr. Huja said the earliest the <br />proposal wilt return m Council will be August 2, but will most likely be ready on <br />September 7th. Mr. Huja said that several issues were raised by residents that the <br />developer is willing to address, but noted that some residents oppose any development. <br /> <br /> Ms. Daugherty reviewed Council's meeting scheduled for the next several weeks <br />and announced that the August 16t~ Council meeting will be cancelled. <br /> <br /> Mr. Cox announced that a meeting will be held on the proposed transition zone on <br />Wednesday, July 21~. <br /> <br /> On motion by Mr. Toscano, seconded by Mr. Caravati, Council voted (Ayes: <br />Mr. Caravati, Mr. Cox, Ms. Daugherty, Ms. Richards, Mr. Toscano. Noes: None) to <br />close this open meeting and go into a closed meeting for the purpose of appointing <br />members to various City boards or agencies, as authorized by Section 2. t-344(A)(1) of <br />the Virginia Code; for the purpose of considering the acquisition of real property for <br /> <br /> <br />
