Absent: Mr. Cox. <br /> <br /> Ms. Daugherty announced that CharlottesVille will be featured onthe Arts and <br />Entertainment Network as one of the Ten Best Places to Live on November 7 at 7:00 <br /> <br /> Ms. DaUgherty said that a request had been made to help flood ravaged areas of <br />North Carolina and anyone wishing to help may call the Clerk of Council for details. <br /> <br />RECOGNITIONS/AWARDS <br /> <br /> Ms. Daugherty recogniTed the recent release of a CD by members ofthe Music <br />Resource Center. Mr. Pat Belile of the Music Resource Center, thanked Council for their <br />support and said that t8 members ofthe Center produced the CD. April, a member of the <br />Center, sang an original song that appears on the CD. <br /> <br />Ms. Daugherty proclaimed October 15 as "White Cane Safety Day." <br /> <br />PUBLIC <br /> <br /> Ms. Grace Tinsley, Cymhiunna Avenue, asked audience members to stand in <br />support ofthe University of Virginia admissions policy and many stood. Ms. Tinsley <br />said that the University has been successful in recruiting, retaining and graduating <br />African-American students, but their admissions policy is being challenged and <br />threatened. Ms. Tinsley commended CoundI for supporting the policy and urged others <br />to speak out in support of the _policy. <br /> <br /> Mr. Dan Rosensweig, Altamom Circle, asked that Council raise the cap on the <br />Housing Opportunities Partnership (HOP) Program.
