BROWN, INC.; OUTGOING SCHOOL BOARD <br />MEMBERS <br /> <br /> Mr. Caravati recognized outgoing School Board members Ivlary-Susan Payne and <br />Elva Holland and read proclamations recognizing their contributions. <br /> <br /> Mr. Caravati presented the City's Business Appreciation Award to Ms. Barbara <br />Brown Martin ofW. E. Brown, Inc. <br /> <br />PUBLIC <br /> <br />There were no matters by the public. <br /> <br />pUBLIC HEARING: RATIFYING SALE OF DISTRICT HOME IN WAYNESBORO <br />ORDINANCE <br /> <br /> Ms. Linda Peacock, Assistant City Manager, explained that the ordinance will <br />authorize the conveyance of the property formerly operated as the District Home to a <br />private company. Ms. Peacock said that the Home has not been in operation since May <br />of 1999 and in 1997 Council authorized the sale of certain tangibles and intangibles of <br />the Home. Ms. Peacock said that the Home had become a financial drain on those <br />localities involved and needed major renovations. All residents of the Home have been <br />placed in private facilities. Ms. Peacock said that if any profit from the sale is realized by <br />the City, it will be put into the capital fUnd. <br /> <br /> The public hearing was opened, but as there were no speakers, the public hearing <br />was closed. <br /> <br /> Onmotion by Mr. Toscano, seconded by Mr. Lynch, the ordinance entitled <br />"ORDINANCE APPROVING THE SALE OF REAL PROPERTY (THE DISTRICT <br />HOME, WAYNESBORO, VIRGINIA" was offered and carried over to the next meeting <br />for consideration. <br /> <br />P. ~UB. LIC..HEARING: WATER STREET PARKING GARAGE EXPANSION <br />ORDINANCE <br /> <br /> Mr.. Clyde Gouldman, City Attorney, explained that the proposed expansion will <br />increase the Water Street Parking Garage's capacity to over 900 spaces. Plans for the <br />expansion have been approved by the Board of Architectural Review. Bids will be <br />sought in August, with construction to start in mid-fail. <br /> <br /> The public hearing vms opened, but as there were no speakers, the public hearing <br />was closed. <br /> <br /> <br />
