231 <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, on the property designated as 500 Lexington Avenue, the Planning <br />Commission recommended approVal of a variance of the required rear yard setback <br />imposed by City Code §34-149 from 25 feet to 21 feet; and - <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, on October 19, 2000, the Board of Zoning Appeals approved a <br />variance to the required minimum lot size of 6,000 square feet at 500 Lexington Avenue, <br />as required by the Planning Corranission; now, therefore <br /> <br /> BE IT RESOLVED by the Council of the CRy of Charlottesville, Virginia that <br />an amendment to the above-referenced special use permit is hereby approved and granted <br />to Martha Jefferson Hospital, owner of the property at 459 Locust Avenue and 500 <br />Lexington Avenue, to add a one story addition to the single story wing off of the rear of <br />the Ambulatory Care Center wing on the Lexington Avenue side of the property. This <br />special use permit is conditioned upon: <br /> <br />Approval by CRy Council of the request to rezone the rear portion of 500 <br />Lexington Avenue; <br /> <br />ii. <br /> <br />A rear yard setback of 21 feet, as recommended by the Planning <br />Commission; <br /> <br />III. <br /> <br />Administrative approval of the final site plan, which meets all the <br />requirements of the zoning ordinance; and <br /> <br />IV. <br /> <br />Implementation, monitoring and verification of a system which results in <br />better parking for employees in hospital parking facilities. <br /> <br />ORDINANCE: REZONING REAR OF 500 LEXINGTON AVENUE (1V~RTHA <br />JEFFERSON HOSPITAL) FROM R-lA TO B-1 <br /> <br /> On motion by Mr. Toscano, seconded by Mr. Lynch, the ordinance entitled <br />"AN ORDINANCE AMENDING AND REENACTING THE DISTRICT MAP <br />INCORPORATED IN SECTION 34-15 OF THE ZONING ORDINANCE OF THE <br />CODE OF THE CITY OF CHARLOTTESVILLE, 1990, AS AMENDED, BY THE <br />REZONING OF THE REAR 1,730 SQUARE FEET OF 500 LEXINGTON AVENUE <br />FROM R-IA TO B-1" was offered and carried over to the next meeting for consideration. <br /> <br />ORDINANCE: MARTIN LUTHER K1NG, JR. HOLIDAY <br /> <br /> Mr. Caravati said the state recently adopted a separate Martin Luther King, Jr. <br />holiday, and he thought it would be good to bring it forward for Council's consideration <br />as a result of discussions in the community. <br /> <br /> Mr. O'Connell said staff recommends separating the Martin Luther King, Jr. <br />Holiday from Lee-Jackson Day and celebrating it on the third Monday in January. Mr. <br />O'Connell said this follows what the state and many communities have done. <br /> <br />Mr. Cox said he is thrilled to see this happen. <br /> <br /> Ms. Richards said it never made sense to her to have the combined holiday. Ms. <br />Richards made a motion to approve the ordinance, Mr. Lynch seconded the motion, and <br />the ordinance entitled "AN ORDINANCE AMENDING AND REORDAINING <br />SECTION 2-6 OF THE CHARLOTTESVILLE CITY CODE, 1990, AS AMENDED, <br />RELATED TO HOLIDAYS" was offered and carried over to the next meeting for <br />consideration. <br /> <br />CONSENT AGENDA <br /> <br /> On motion by Mr. Cox, secOnded by Mr. Lynch, the following consent agenda <br />Rems were approved by the following vote.
