Mr. Buck moved to amend the ordinance by requiring a one-time fee of $50 for existing businesses to place a stand outside their business. Mr. Barnes seconded the mOtion and it was approved by the following vote. Ayes: Mr. Barnes, Mr. Buck, Dr. Hail. Noes: Mrs. Gleason, Dr.. Gunter. There was a discussion of the number of sites which should be allowed but no agreement was reached. RELATING TO VENDORS ON CITY STREETS AND ?! SIDEWALKS, as amended, was offered and carried over to the next meeting for consideration. ORDINANCE: CLOSING A PORTION OF LEE STREET BETWEEN JEFFERSON PARK AVENUE AND llTH STREET Mr. Hendrix explained that neither staff nor the viewers objected to the closing of Lee Street. On motion by Mrs. Gleason, seconded by Mr. Barnes, the ordinance entitled "AN ORDINANCE CLOSING, VACATING AND DISb CONTINUING LEE STREET BETWEEN JEFFERSON PARK AVENUE AND ELEVENTH STREET" was offered and carried over to the next meeting for consideration. ORDINANCE: CLOSING A PORTION OF AN ALLEY OFF E. MARKET STREET TO PARCELS 271, 272 & 273 Mr. Hendrix explained that neither staff nor the viewers objected to the closing of the alley off E. Market Street. On motion by Mrs. Gleason, seconded by Dr. Gunter, the ordinance entitled "AN ORDINANCE CLOSING, VACATING AND DISCON- TINUING A PROTION OF AN ALLEY OFF EAST MARKET STREET" was offered and carried over to the next meeting for consideration. ORDINANCE: ROAD CLOSING A PORTION OF OLD FIFTH STREET, EXTD. AT HARRIS Mr. Hendrix explained that neither staff nor the viewers objected to the closing of a portion of Old Fifth Street, Extd. On motion by Dr. Hall, seconded by Mrs. Gleason, the ordinance entitled "AN ORDINANCE CLOSING, VACATING AND DIS- CONTINUING A PORTION OF OLD FIFTH STREET EXTENDED" was offered and carried over to the next meeting for consideration. PUBLIC There were no matters by the public. OTHER BUSINESS Dr. Hall stated that he had received complaints concerning parking reserved for Trailways bus employees in the parking lot at the west end of the downtown mall. Mr. Hendrix explained that the City has a contractual agreement with Trailwavs to provide the parking spaces in return for use of the lot behind the former Reid's building. Mr. Hendrix stated that the situation may change in the near future due to a possible alternative agreement with Trailways. Mr. Barnes offered and moved a resolution in support of the Charlottesville Blues Baseball Club. Mrs. Gleason seconded the motion and it was unanimously approved by Council. SS
