256 <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, the abolition or reduction of the activities <br />of the TJPDC at this time to achieve minor cost savings <br />would be extremely short-sighted; now, therefore, be it <br /> <br /> RESOLVED by the Council of the City of <br />Charlottesville, Virginia, that the City hereby expresses <br />its full support for the continuation of the TJPDC; and be <br />it further <br /> <br /> RESOLVED that the Council urges the Boards of <br />Supervisors of the counties of Albemarle, Fluvanna, <br />Greene, Louise and Nelson likewise to reaffirm their <br />support for the TJPDC and to appropriate their full <br />respective shares of the TJPDC's funding. <br /> <br />STAFF REPORT: NEW UTILITY BILL FORMAT <br /> <br /> Ms. Rita Scott, Director of Finance, summarized the <br />proposed new utility bill format. <br /> <br /> Mr. Buck stated that it might be worthwhile for staff <br />· to meet with groups such as the Senior Center concerning <br /> the new billing format. <br /> <br />APPROPRIATION: $458,699 - JOB TRAINING PARTNERSHIP ACT <br /> <br /> Mr. Hendrix stated that this appropriation consisted <br />o'f federal funds made available for the Summer Youth <br />Employment Program. <br /> <br /> On motion by Mrs. Gleason, seconded by Dr. Hall, the <br />$458,699 appropriation for the Job Training Partnership <br />Act was offered and carried over to the next meeting for <br />consideration° <br /> <br />APPROPRIATION: $18,923.87 - OVERTIME FOR SNOW REMOVAL <br /> <br /> Mr. Hendrix stated that the appropriation was to <br />cover the cost of overtime for snow removal in the Public <br />Works Department which is not budgeted because it varies <br />greatly from year to year. <br /> <br /> Mr. Barnes recommended that consideration be given to <br />including an estimate of the snow removal costs in the <br />budget. <br /> <br /> Mr. Buck stated that he was hesitant to include the <br />overtime expense in the budget because it can only be an <br />estimate and money is always available at the end of the <br />fiscal year to cover such expenses. <br /> <br /> On motion by Dr. Hall, seconded by Mr. Barnes, the <br />$18,923.87 appropriation for overtime for snow removal was <br />offered and carried over to the next meeting for <br />consideration. <br /> <br />ORDINANCE: <br /> <br />reading) <br /> <br />AMENDING ORDINANCE RE: OIL BURNING EQUIPMENT (2nd <br /> <br /> The ordinance entitled "AN ORDINANCE TO AMEND AND <br /> REORDAIN ARTICLE III OF CHAPTER 11 OF THE CODE OF THE <br /> CITY OF CHARLOTTESVILLE, 1976, BY ADDING A NEW SECTION, <br /> NUMBERED 11-6.1, DELETING FROM THE CITY CODE ARTICLE 14, <br /> OIL BURNING EQUIPMENT, OF THE BOCA BASIC FIRE PREVENTION <br /> CODE, 1981" which was offered at the meeting of May 5th, <br /> was approved by the following vote. Ayes: Mr. Barnes, <br /> Mr. Buck, Mrs. Gleason, Dr. Gunter, Dr. Hall. Noes: None. <br /> <br />ORDINANCE: CLOSING A PORTION OF AN ALLEY BETWEEN 10TH AND 10 1/2 <br />STREETS <br /> <br /> Mr. Hendrix stated that neither viewers nor staff had <br />objections to the alley closing. <br /> <br /> <br />
