Department of Agriculture (USDA) <br />has established the Summer Food Service Program to bring <br />about an increased awareness of the critical importance of <br />proper nutrition for children and to insure that school <br />vacation does not end the availability of nutritious meals <br />for many children, and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, the. City of Charlottesville wishes to assist <br />USDA in fulfilling these objectives, now, therefore, <br /> <br /> BE IT RESOLVED, by the Council of the City of <br />Charlottesville, that a Summer Food Service Program is <br />established as part of the City Parks and Recreation <br />Department's summer recreation program and that the amount <br />reimbursed by USDA for implementation of this program, <br />estimated at $14,672, is hereby appropriated to <br />expenditure account 11-51230 for that program. <br /> <br />APPROPRIATION: <br /> <br />(2nd reading) <br /> <br />$10,000 - PIEDMONT COUNCIL OF THE ARTS GRANT <br /> <br /> The $10,000 appropriation for the Piedmont Council of <br />the Arts which was offered at the meeting of July 7th was <br />approved by the following vote. Ayes: Mr. Barnes, Mr. <br />Buck, Mrs. Gleason, Dr. Hall, Mr. Towe. Noes: None. <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, the Virginia Commission for the Arts has <br />notified the City of its grant award in the Local <br />Government Grant category; now, therefore <br /> <br /> BE IT RESOLVED by the Council of the City of <br />Charlottesville, Virginia that $10,000 is hereby <br />aprpopriated from the grants fund to expenditure account <br />number 11-51220 for use by the Piedmont Council for the <br />Arts for its activities during the 1986-87 fiscal year. <br />Such activities shall be conducted under contract with the <br />City. Such appropriation shall be conditioned upon <br />receipt by the City of $5,000 from the Virginia Commission <br />for the Arts grant number 87-232, to be credited to the <br />Grants Fund. <br /> <br /> BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the sum of $5,000 <br />previously appropriated to General Fund expenditure <br />account 01-51200 shall be transferred to the Grants Fund <br />as the City's matching share of this grant. <br /> <br />APPROPRIATION: <br /> <br />(2nd reading) <br /> <br />$24,598 - TRANSPORTATION PLANNING GRANT <br /> <br /> The $24,598 appropriation for the Transportation <br />Planning Grant which was offered at the meeting of July <br />7th was approved by the following vote. Ayes: Mr. <br />Barnes, Mr. Buck, Mrs. Gleason, Dr. Hall~ Mr. Towe. <br />Noes: None. <br /> <br /> BE IT RESOLVED by the Council of the City of <br />Charlottesville, Virginia that the sum of $24,598 is <br />hereby appropriated to expenditure account 11-33110 in the <br />Grants Fund for planning activities including <br />administration, data base maintenance and a study of <br />transportation needs for the southern City/County area. <br />Such activities shall be conducted by the City under a <br />contract from the Thomas Jefferson Planning District <br />Commission (TJPDC) pursuant to a Section 112 planning and <br />programming grant received by TJPDC from the Federal <br />Highway Administration (FHWA) and the Virginia Department <br />of Highways and Transportation (VDH&T). <br /> <br /> This appropriation shall be subject to the receipt by <br />the City for credit to the Grants Fund of $20,908 in FHWA <br /> <br /> <br />
