Policeman <br />appointed <br />Policeman <br />Dameron paid <br />2 pay Nov. <br />Quarterly <br />Estimate <br />Approp. to <br />Redland Land <br />Corp. for <br />Water conn. <br />91, <br />A communication from the Mayor stating that he had appointed M. J. Payne as a <br />regular policeman to fill the vacancy caused by the death of Z. L. Dameron, was <br />presented and on motion this appointMent was unanimously ratified. <br />On motion by Dr. Haden, one-half pay f or the month of November was ordered paid <br />to Policeman Z. L. Dameron's widow. <br />The City Manager's Quarterly Estimate in amount of $42,050.00 for the quarter <br />ending February 28, 1940, was presented and carried over to the next meeting for <br />consideration. <br />On motion by Dr. Haden, seconded by Mr. Peyton, the following resolution was <br />unanimously adopted: <br />BE IT RESOLVED by the Council of the City of Charlottesville that <br />$100.00 be and the same is hereby appropriated to the Redland Land Corpora- <br />tion for Dr. J. H. Rushton water connection. <br />On motion the resolution appropriating X4,845.50 as the City's proportionate <br />Resolution- part for additional equipment in the new white high school,which was offered at the <br />Appropriation <br />new high last regular meeting was adopted by the following recorded vote: Ayes: Mr. Gleason, <br />school equip. <br />Dr. Haden, Mr. Jessup, and 1,1Ir. Peyton. Noes: None. <br />On motion the following resolution was unanimously adopted: <br />BE IT RESOLVED by the Council of the City of Chariottesville that <br />Parking $696.75 be and the same is hereby appropriated to pay to the Dual Parking <br />Meters <br />Meter Company 75% of the receipts from the parking meters from October 11, <br />to November 14, 1939, inclusive. <br />On motion by Dr. Haden, the following resolution was unanimously adopted: <br />BE IT RESOLVED by the Council of the City of Charlottesville that <br />Christmas $50.00, or as much thereof as may be necessary, be and the same is hereby <br />Lights <br />Appropriation appropriated for electricity to be used for Christmas Lights on Main Street. <br />On motion the following resolution was offered and carried over to the next <br />meeting for consideration: <br />BE IT RESOLVED by the Council of the City of Charlottesville that <br />Resolution- X1,500.00, or as much thereof as may be necessary, be and the same is <br />Sewer Work <br />hereby appropri�ited for sewer work at the new white high school. <br />Seger work A communication from Dr. Johnson, clerk of the City School Board, in regard to <br />new high school <br />sewer work, etc., at the new white high school, was presented and ordered filed with <br />the minutes of this meeting. <br />Ordinance- An ordinance entitled "AN ORDINANCE SETTING APART $91,470.83 FOR STREETS, SEWERS, <br />Annexed <br />Territory LIGHTS, WATER AND OTHER PUBLIC IMPROVEMENTS IN THL ANNEXED TERRITORY", which was <br />offered at the last regular meeting was adopted by the following recorded vote: Ayes: <br />Mr. Gleason, Dr. Haden, Tdr. Jessup, and Mr. Peyton. Noes: None. (Full text of this <br />ordinance will be found recorded in Ordinance Book 2, page 241). <br />On motion the Council went into Executive Session by the following recorded vote: <br />Ayes: Mr. Gleason, Dr. Haden, Mr. Jessup, and 1.11r.
