92. <br />Rej;ort of City <br />Attorney re: <br />Robertson claim <br />On motion the following report ,, as unanimously adopted: <br />November 14, 1939 <br />Council of the City of Charlottesville <br />Charlottesville, Virginia <br />Gentlemen: <br />At a meeting of the Council on November 6th, there was <br />referred to me for investigation and report claim of Tyler <br />Robertson for damage to tires. <br />Inasmuch as the condition which caused the damage was, <br />according to my inf ormation, not a permanent condition or one <br />of long standing and the City had no notice thereof, I do not <br />feel that the City has ary liability in the matter and I <br />accordingly recommend that, the claim be denied. <br />Very truly yours, <br />Lyttelton Waddell (signed) <br />City Attorney <br />r <br />i <br />Claim - George On motion a claim of George Bage was referred to the City Attorney for investiga- <br />Bage <br />tion and resort. <br />On motion the following resolution was unanimously adopted: <br />BE IT RESOLVED by the Council of the City of Chc rlottesville that <br />the City of Charlottesville has, in the death of Z. L. Dameron, suffered <br />Resolution the loss of one of its most faithful public servants; that in his many <br />re: Z. L. <br />Dameron years as a member of the Charlottesvi.11e police force !�,Ir. Dameron has won <br />the love and respect of all those who were associated with him and that it <br />is the wish of the members of the Council to express officially, and as <br />individuals, their appreciation of his loyalty, their grief at his death, <br />and their deepest sympathy for his family. <br />BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that a cop -,.T of this resolution be transmitted <br />to Mrs. Dameron. <br />On motion the meeting adjourned. <br />;Z7 <br />Clerk V Prdysfdent <br />COUNCIL CHA1BER, DECE�,IBER 4. 1939 <br />�I <br />The Council met in regular session on this date with the following members <br />• <br />present: Mr. Gleason, Dr. Haden, '_'A'r. Huff, Mr. Jessup, and Mr. Peyton. <br />Minutes of the 12,1eeting of November 20, 1939, were read and approved. <br />Harris re: <br />;fir. F. L. Harris addressed the Council regarding the property owned by the City <br />property at <br />.Preston Ave. <br />at the corner of Preston Avenue and Market Street. On motion by Tdr. Gleason, this <br />& Market St. <br />matter was referred to the City manager for investigation and report. <br />Mrs. Margaret P. Wilson addressed the Council in regard. to a refund of a license <br />License <br />Refund <br />tax. On motion this matter was carried over. <br />requested <br />Mr. Stuart Hamm addressed the Council and presented a petition requesting improve- <br />Petition- <br />ments on East Jefferson Street, Extended, and Fairview Avenue. On motion this matter <br />East Jefferson <br />St. Extended <br />was referred to the City Manager for investigation and report. <br />Refund from <br />Mr. A. E. Edwa-ras addressed the Council and presented a check in amount of $300.00 <br />Sof tI3all <br />Committee <br />as a.refund from the Softball Committee to offset the appropriation made by the <br />• <br />Council for bleachers, etc., on March 6, 1939. On motion Mr. Edwards was thanked and <br />congratulated for the very efficient manner in which the Softball League was organized <br />F <br />D- <br />and operated during the year. <br />
