<br />$1200.00 taxes on the church property. On motion by Dr. Maden, seconded by Idr.
<br />Gleason, the following resolution was offered and carried over to the next meeting
<br />for consideration:
<br />BE IT RESOLVED by the Council of the City of Ch'-.rlottesville that
<br />$1200.00 be and the same is hereby ap;;ropriated to ,pay the 1939 taxes
<br />on the University Baptist Church building and land. (The dwelling house
<br />is not included).
<br />On motion the matter pertaining to the property located at the corner of Market
<br />Street and Preston Avenue was carried over in order to enable the Council to view
<br />the property.
<br />A petition requesting that the C&O Railway Company not be allowed to construct
<br />a neer coal bin near the 10th and 11th blocks on East 1arket Street, was presented.
<br />On motion by 11r. Gleason, a petition 'rom the Redland Land Corporation request-
<br />ing the City to accept dedication of Hessin Road and Blue Ridge Road, was referred
<br />to the City :Tanager for investigation and report.
<br />On motion Policeman T. H. Adams was ordered paid one-half pay for the time lost
<br />from December 10 to 19, 1939, inclusive, and Policeman A. E. Roberts was ordered
<br />paid one-half pay from November 25, 1939 to January 1, 1910, on account of sickness.
<br />The City Manager submitted a report stating that East Jefferson Street Extended.
<br />and Fairview Avenue had not been accepted as City streets, and it was therefore
<br />impossible to do any work on them until they were properly dedicated to the City.
<br />On motion by Dr. Haden, seconded by Cdr. Gleason, this matter was referred back to the
<br />City Manager for investigation and re,ort as to whether or not the City should accept
<br />dedication of these streets.
<br />On motion by Dr. Haden, seconded by Mr. Gleason, the following report was
<br />unanimously adopted:

<br />Gentlemen:-
<br />�," ith reference to Piedmont Avenue, between Price Avenue and
<br />Stadium Road, I wish to advise that we have investigated this
<br />and would recommend that the City accept dedication on a 40t
<br />strip, 201 each side of the present surfacing, subject to the
<br />adjacent property owners providing a plat and quit -claim deed
<br />from the original grantors, and that this dedication be effective
<br />whenever a proper deed of this nature is approved by the City
<br />Attorney.

<br />The matter pertaining to Lexington Avenue was again presented, and on motion
<br />the City Manager was instructed to secure releases from the property owners on this
<br />street in order to enable the City to make any changes of grade necessary when the
<br />street is repaired in the Spring.
<br />On motion the following resolution was unanimously adopted:

<br />$548.59 be and the same is hereby appropriated to pay to the Dual Parking
<br />Meter Company 75% of the receipts from the parking meters from November 21,
<br />1939 to December 12, 1939, inclusive.
