• Resolution re: Report re: East Jeff. St. Extended and Fairview Avenue Report re: Piedmont Ave. Lexington Avenue • Ap':ropriation Parking Meters 95� $1200.00 taxes on the church property. On motion by Dr. Maden, seconded by Idr. Gleason, the following resolution was offered and carried over to the next meeting for consideration: BE IT RESOLVED by the Council of the City of Ch'-.rlottesville that $1200.00 be and the same is hereby ap;;ropriated to ,pay the 1939 taxes on the University Baptist Church building and land. (The dwelling house is not included). On motion the matter pertaining to the property located at the corner of Market Street and Preston Avenue was carried over in order to enable the Council to view the property. A petition requesting that the C&O Railway Company not be allowed to construct a neer coal bin near the 10th and 11th blocks on East 1arket Street, was presented. On motion by 11r. Gleason, a petition 'rom the Redland Land Corporation request- ing the City to accept dedication of Hessin Road and Blue Ridge Road, was referred to the City :Tanager for investigation and report. On motion Policeman T. H. Adams was ordered paid one-half pay for the time lost from December 10 to 19, 1939, inclusive, and Policeman A. E. Roberts was ordered paid one-half pay from November 25, 1939 to January 1, 1910, on account of sickness. The City Manager submitted a report stating that East Jefferson Street Extended. and Fairview Avenue had not been accepted as City streets, and it was therefore impossible to do any work on them until they were properly dedicated to the City. On motion by Dr. Haden, seconded by Cdr. Gleason, this matter was referred back to the City Manager for investigation and re,ort as to whether or not the City should accept dedication of these streets. On motion by Dr. Haden, seconded by Mr. Gleason, the following report was unanimously adopted: December 18, 1939 To the Members of the City Council City of Charlottesville, Virginia Gentlemen:- �," ith reference to Piedmont Avenue, between Price Avenue and Stadium Road, I wish to advise that we have investigated this and would recommend that the City accept dedication on a 40t strip, 201 each side of the present surfacing, subject to the adjacent property owners providing a plat and quit -claim deed from the original grantors, and that this dedication be effective whenever a proper deed of this nature is approved by the City Attorney. On motion the following resolution was unanimously adopted: BE IT RESOLVED by the Council of the City of Charlottesville that $548.59 be and the same is hereby appropriated to pay to the Dual Parking Meter Company 75% of the receipts from the parking meters from November 21, 1939 to December 12, 1939, inclusive.
