the Council met in Special Session on this date with the following members present: <br />Mr. Gleason, Dr. Haden, Mr. Huff, Mr. Jessup, and Mr. Peyton. <br />Communication A communication from the Lot Committee of the School Board of the City of <br />from. Lot <br />Committee Charlottesville relative to acquiring the Georgia Realty Industrial Company property <br />on Preston Avenue was presented and ordered filed with the minutes of this meeting. <br />On motion by !fir. Jessup, the following resolution was unanimously adopted: . <br />WHEREAS, it is in the opinion of the Council and the School Board of <br />the City of Charlottesville,necessary and advisable that the land and other <br />property within the proposed Preston Avenue white high school site belonging <br />to the Georgia Realty Industrial Company as shown on plat of the City Engineer <br />dated the first day of September, 1938, and on file in his said office, be used <br />for the construction of school buildings, playgrounds, recreational and athletic <br />Resolution re: facilities in connection therewith, and <br />Condemnation <br />Georgia Realty WHEREAS, the City and said School Board have made a bonafide but ineffectual <br />Co-m.neny property <br />effort to acquire said property by purchase, and it is therefore necessary for <br />the City to acquire said land by condemnation for the purpose aforesaid, <br />NOW, THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED by the Council of the City of Charlottes- <br />ville that the City Attorney be and he is hereby authorized and directed to <br />institute condemnation proceedings for the purpose of acquiring the aforesaid <br />property of the Georgia Realty Industrial Company, provided said property <br />cannot be otherwise acquired, and said City Attorney is directed to institute <br />said proceedings not later than October 22, 1938. <br />On motion the me e ting fid- ourned . <br />Clerk <br />Pursuant to the follov,ing call: <br />Mr. J.
