Porter <br />Report re: requesting change of Zoning Ordinance applying to the corner of <br />Zoning Change Brandon Avenue and Frys Spring Road. Gleason, 'Mr. Peyton, the City 11ianager, <br />Fire Protection <br />Outside City and Fire Chief, was appointed to ma-�:e a report reluti.ve to furnishing limited fire <br />protection to the residents outside the City Limits. <br />The folloix:ing report was adopted: <br />December 19, 1938 <br />To the Members of the City Council <br />City of ChLrlottesville, Virginia <br />Gentlemen: <br />With reference to services in the annexed territory, I would <br />reco=.,end that we immediately extend and make available on January <br />1st, Street Lights, Garbage Collection, Fire Protection, Police <br />Protection, Poor Relief, and extension of Gas Lines particularly <br />in the Frys Spring Area. <br />The City, of course, will not receive any revenue from this area <br />Re,=t re: from taxes on real and personal property until December, 1939, so <br />Annexation that it will be necessary to anticipate these tuxes to provide <br />these services, as well as to pay school damages, tuition and debt <br />charges. I have estimated the cost as follows for eight months <br />period which will extend through our present fiscal year. <br />Street Lights .............................%* 1,400.00 <br />Fire Hydrants ............................. 2,000.00 <br />Garbage Collection ........................ 12500.00 <br />Relief Cost ............................... 900.00 <br />Gas Lines ................................. 3,000.00 <br />8,800.00 <br />Nay recommendation is that we go ahe!ld. with these items immediately <br />and absorb the cost in our regular city budget j,;ith the expectation <br />of borrowing enough money during the latter part of our fiscal year <br />against the 1939 taxes, in case a bond issue election should not <br />carry, and if it does, a port of this cost should be included in it. <br />SB:vL <br />Respectfully submitted, <br />Seth Burnley (signed) <br />City l.lanader <br />On motion the following resolution was offered and curried over to the next <br />regular meeting for consider�.tion: <br />Resolution BE IT RESOLVED by the Council of the City of Charlottesville that <br />re: Appropriation <br />Annexation X5,800.00, be and the same is hereby appropriated for the purposes as <br />outlined in the above report. <br />A communication f rom the Commonwealth Attorney of Albemarle County rel z. tive to a <br />Claim of claim of dr. R. Stuart Royer against the County of Albemarle was presented. On motion <br />R.
