<br />Ordinance- CITY CODE OF 1932, ENTITLED 'PARKS AND CEMETERIESt, THE SAME BEING SECTIONS 429 TO

<br />Cemeteries" 4.40, BOTH INCLUSIVE, OF SAID CODE AND ALL AMENDMENTS THERETO," was offered by Dr.
<br />Maden, and carried over to the next regular meeting for consideration.
<br />Dr. David C. ti4ilson and Miss Nan Croat addressed the Council in regard to the
<br />operation of the Recreation Department, and explained that the revenues for that
<br />Recreation Department had been decreased due to a loss of the Saturday night square dances.
<br />Department
<br />They explained that it was necessary for them to secure additional income to replace
<br />the loss of revenue froi�,i the square dances in order to maintain their present personn-
<br />el. On motion by Mr. Gleason, the follov,�7ing resolution was unanimously adopted:
<br />BE IT RESOLVED by the Council of the City of Charlottesville that
<br />Appropriation $300.00 be and the same is hereby appropriated to the Recreation Department.

<br />Gentlemen:
<br />On October 17th, 1938, the undersigned Committee was
<br />4ppointed with instructions to make report and recommendation as to
<br />the above claim.
<br />After considerable negotiation with 1r. 71 hite and
<br />his attorneys, the City Attorney received an offer for settlement
<br />dated February 9th, 1939, which is hereto attached.
<br />Vie recommend that the proposal be accepted subject
<br />to the following conditions and changes:
<br />• (1) That the City be allowed at least six
<br />months to remove the obstructions so that
<br />the work can be done when the stream is low;

<br />A. Cousins, 1309 1':ertland Street, be paid the x°50.00 Confederate Widow's Pension, was
<br />presented, and unanimously approved.
<br />Radio tower
<br />On motion the matter pertaining to the radio tower on Robertson Avenue was
<br />carried over for consideration.
<br />School Bd.
<br />On motion by Dr. Haden, the appointment of two school board members was carried

<br />over to the next meeting for consideration.
<br />On motion by Dr. Haden, seconded by 11r. Gleason, the following resolution was
<br />unanimously adopted:

<br />On motion a bill against the Dog Fund in amount of ."2.00 was approved for payment.
