Wilson addressed the Council on behalf of the Elks Club relative <br />Officer <br />to a full time probation officer. On motion this matter was taken under advisement. <br />The following report was unanimously adopted: <br />May 1, 1939 <br />To the Members of the City Council <br />City of Charlotte sville, Virginia <br />COUNCIL CHAMBER, MAY 11 1939. <br />The Council met in regular session on this date rsith the following members <br />present: 111r. Gleason, Lr. Haden, Mr. Huff, Mr. Jessup, and 11r. Peyton. <br />Minutes of the Meeting of April 17, 1939, were read and approved. <br />Petitions re: <br />Petitions from the Charlottesville & Albemarle Bar Association, the Ministers <br />Holiday for <br />Policemen <br />of the Gospel, and the Business Men relative to a vacation period of not less than <br />one day in each and every calendar month for members of the Police Department, were <br />presented, and on motion referred to the Ilayor and Chief of Police for investigation <br />and report. <br />License tax <br />Mr. C. E. Burch addressed the Council and requested that his city license tax <br />refund rejected <br />for the year commencing !lay 1, 1939, be remitted. On motion this request was <br />unanim-)us y refused. <br />A communication from Mr. R. N. Anderson, State Supervisor of the Di -vision of <br />Tourist <br />Guide <br />Special and Adult Eduction, a De;_Dartment of the State Board of Education, relative <br />Service <br />�i <br />to a tourist guide service was presented but no action ta_cen thereon. <br />Ordinance- <br />An ordinance entitled "Aid ORDINANCE AMENDING THE; ANNUAL 1939 LICENSE TAX <br />"PUBLIC <br />PARKS & <br />ORDINANCE BY ADDINu A NE`rr SECTION THERETO NUMBERED AND ENTITLED ?10/+ a. PUBLIC <br />SWIMM:CNG <br />POOLS". <br />PARKS AND SWI-.1LJI.113G POOLSt'l, was offered by Dr. Haden, seconded by Mr. Peyton, and <br />upon the rules being suspended as to the second reading by unanimous vote, was <br />adopted by the following recorded vote: Ayes: Mr. C leason, Dr. Maden, Mr. Huff, Mr. <br />Jessup, ane, Mr. Peyton.
