22.1-41. Maximum Length. <br />The maximum length of the indirect waste to vent shall not <br />exceed 15 feet. <br />22.1-42. Cleaning. <br />Indirect waste piping shall be so installed as to permit <br />ready access for flushing and cleaning. <br />22.1-43. Clear Water Waste. <br />Water lifts, expansion tanks, cooling jackets, drip or over- <br />flow pans, or similar devices which waste clear water only <br />shall discharge into the building drainage system through an <br />indirect waste. <br />Clear water lifts may connect to drainage system with the <br />use of check valve in line and shall be connected to drain line <br />in such manner that drainage from fixtures located upstream <br />fhay not enter pump linea <br />22.1-44. Drinking Fountains. <br />Drinking fountains may be installed with indirect wastes. <br />22.1-45. Swimming Pools. <br />Piping carrying waste water from swimming or wading • <br />pools, including pool drainage, back wash from filters, water <br />from scum gutter drains or floor drains which serve walks <br />around pools, shall be installed as an indirect waste utilizing <br />any existing circulation pump, if necessary, when indirected <br />waste line is below the sewer grade. <br />ARTICLE V—IN GENERAL. <br />22.1-46. Repair and Alteration. <br />In existing buildings or premises in which plumbing instal- <br />lations are to be altered, repaired, or renovated, necessary <br />deviations from the provisions of this Code may be permitted, <br />provided such deviations conform to the intent of the Code <br />and are approved by the Plumbing Inspector prior to installa- <br />tion of work. <br />22.1-47. Alteration in Old Work. <br />In alteration work or installation of additional fixtures in <br />old buildings where the conditions are such that it is not <br />practical to comply with the provisions of these regulations, <br />or where the venting of minor fixture traps on old work would <br />entail unreasonable expense, the Plumbing Inspector may al- <br />low resealing traps to be used under minor fixtures located <br />not more than 15 feet from main or direct vent. <br />22.1-48. Toilets Located Outside of Buildings. <br />No flush toilet designed or intended for the use of any <br />premises shall be constructed outside of the building which it <br />is intended to serve. <br />22.1-49. Removal of Obstructions. <br />In case of any stoppage in the public sewer the City shall <br />remove the obstruction. If the stoppage occurs in the sewer <br />between house and the City sewer main, the property owner <br />whose property connects with the public sewer shall remove <br />the obstruction. If he fails to remove the obstruction within <br />forty-eight hours after notice from the City Manager, the • <br />obstruction may be removed by the City and the cost thereof, <br />together with twenty per cent thereof, shall be paid by the <br />owner or occupant. <br />22.1-50. Injuring Sewers, Manholes, Etc. <br />No person, while engaged in the construction of house <br />sewer, or otherwise, shall injure, trim, break or remove any <br />portion of any main or lateral sewer, "Y", manhole or flush <br />tank, or do any injury to any house sewer previously laid, <br />and no penalty fixed by this Article shall prevent the City <br />or any property owner from recovering any damages sustained <br />by reason of such injury, by appropriate civil action or other- <br />wise. <br />22.1-51. Discharging Refuse or Garbage into Sewers; Auto- <br />matic Garbage Disposal Unit. <br />No person shall be permitted to discharge into the main <br />or lateral sewers or any household sewer or drain through <br />which substances are discharged, any cinders, vegetables, <br />fruit, fruit peelings, ashes, rags, cotton, hair or any refuse <br />0 <br />
