AN ORDINANCE TO AMEND AND RE-ENACT SECTION 32 OF THE SEWERAGE LAWS: <br /> <br />BE IT ORDAINED BY THE COMMON COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF CHARLOTTESVILLE THAT <br /> <br />SECTION 32 OF THE SEWRAGE LAWS BE AMENDED AND RE-ENACTED TO READ AS <br /> <br />FOLLOWS; <br /> <br />Sec. 32, §1. It is ordered that there shall be a committee of this Council known as <br /> <br />the Sewer Connection Board to consist of the Chairman of the Health Committee, the <br /> <br />Chairman of the Sewer Committee and Health Officer, who shall have the power, after <br /> <br />making the proper examination, to order the owner or owners of any property within the <br /> <br />City, to connect closet, urinals, bath and kitchen to said property with the public <br /> <br />sewer; and from this decision there shall be no appeal. <br /> <br />Any person failing to comply with the order of the Board to connect his property <br /> <br />With the sewer shall be fined one dollar per day for every day that he shall fail to <br /> <br />make said connection after the time specified in the order of the Board, unless he can <br /> <br />give a satisfactory reason for the delay. <br /> <br />§2. That any person failing to keep said connections free from defect and in <br /> <br />proper condition for service, shall be held liable to a fine of one dollar per day until <br /> <br />necessary repairs are made. <br /> <br />Adopted December 14, 1905. Presented and approved December 19, 1905. <br /> <br />President’s Signature Mayor’s Signature <br /> <br />AN ORDINANCE TO REGULATE THE USE OF WATER TO MORE THAN ONE PARTY BY ONE SUPPLY <br /> <br />PIPE. <br /> <br />BE IT ORDAINED BY THE COMMON COUNTIL OF THE CITY OF CHARLOTTESVILLE, <br /> <br />1, --That permits for the use of water through one supply pipe will not be granted <br /> <br />tenements or rooms occupied by different families unless the application be made by <br /> <br />the landlord of such premises, and all the rents charged to and collected by him. <br /> <br />2, -- That in case that a tenant subrents the said tenant shall pay all water tax. <br /> <br />Adopted February 8th, 1906. Presented and approved Feb. 10, 1906. <br /> <br />Vice President’s Signature Mayor’s Signature <br /> <br /> <br />AN ORDINANCE REGULATING THE BRANTING OF PLUMBER’S LICENSES: <br /> <br />BE IT ORDAINED BY THE COMMON COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF CHARLOTTESVILLE: <br /> <br />That all applicants for Plumber’s License shall be made to the superintendent of <br /> <br />Sewers & Water and must be approved by at least two journeymen plumbers of this City, <br /> <br />stating that the applicant is a fit and proper person and has had not less than three <br /> <br />Years experience as a practical workman at the trade. <br /> <br />The examination of applicants for plumber’s license shall be conducted by the <br /> <br />Superintendent of Water & Sewers, who shall have the assistance of a journeyman plumber <br /> <br />Of this City in conducting ssaid examination, if he so desires. <br /> <br />For services thus rendered the plumber is to receive a fee of $2.50 for same. <br /> <br />Each person to who a license is issued shall pay the sum of $2.50 for same. <br /> <br />The foregoing ordinance was presented to the Mayor on Feb.10, 1906 and was returned to <br /> <br />Me on February 16th, with his signature of approval or veto, and therefore becomes <br /> <br />Operative under the Statue. <br /> <br /> Adopted February 8th, 1906. <br /> <br />Vice President’s Signature Clerk’s Signature
