Presented Aurust 9,1905; <br />Approved August 9th,1905. <br /> <br />President of Common Council’s Signature Mayor’s Sgnature <br /> <br />AN ORDINANCE PROVIDING FOR THE DISINFECTION OF ALL STREET CARS OPERATED IN THE <br /> <br />CITY: <br /> <br />(Adopted August 7th, 1905) <br /> <br />BE IT ORDAINED BY THE COMMON COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF CHARLOTTESVILLE, <br /> <br />1. – That every person, firm or corporation operating street cars on lines wholly or <br /> <br />partly in the City of Charlottesville, shall cause every car operated within the City <br /> <br />limits to be thoroughly disinfected with formaldehyde at least once a week until such <br /> <br />person, firm or corporation is relieved of his duty by further action of this Council. <br /> <br />2. – Any person, firm, or corporation violating the provisions of this ordinance shall <br /> <br />be fined not less than ten dollars ($10.00) nor more than fifty dollars ($50.00) for <br /> <br />each offence, and each week that such failure shall continue shall be regarded as a <br /> <br />Separate offence. <br /> <br />3. – This ordinance shall be in effect from its passage <br /> <br />Adopted August 7, 1905 Presented August 9th, 1905; <br /> <br />Approved August 9th, 1905. <br /> <br />President of Common Council’s signature Mayor’s signature <br /> <br /> <br /> <br />I, R.T.W. Duke, Jr., President of the Common Council of the City of Charlottesville, Va., <br /> <br />Do certify that the foregoing ordinances on pages from1 to 12 of this book were duly <br /> <br />Passed by the Common Council of the City of Charlottesville, at the date stated at the <br /> <br />___ head of each ordinance, and were subsequently read in the meetings of the <br /> <br />Common Council and approved as a part of the minutes thereof. <br /> <br /> <br />President of Common Council’s Sgnature <br /> <br /> <br />AN ORDINANCE FIXING THE LICENSE TAX ON SHOWS: <br /> <br />(Adopted October 12, 1905) <br /> <br />BE IT ORDAINED BY THE COMMON COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF CHARLOTTESVILLE, <br /> <br />That on every license for shows the tax shall be as follows; on a Circus, Menagerie <br /> <br />or other tent show, whether combined or separate, the tax shall be two thousand dollars <br /> <br />($2,000.00) for the fist performance or exhibition, and one thousand dollars ($1,000.00) <br /> <br />for each additional exhibition: and on each side-show attached to a performance as <br /> <br />part of a circus or menagerie, tbhe tax shall be one thousand dollars ($1,000.00) for <br /> <br />each exhibition. <br /> <br />All ordinances in conflict herewith are hereby repealed. <br /> <br />Adopted October 12, 1905.
