r , <br />ORDINANCE DI+,FINING CERTAIN DUTIES OF TNF CHIEF OFPOLICE. <br />I ,r <br />(Adopted July 1311905 ) <br />BE IT ORDAIIT , BY THE COIR ON COU11CIL OF TTY, CITY OF CYARLOTTFSVILLE: <br />11 <br />That it is the duty of the Chief of Police to enforce obedience to all ordinances of <br />the Council; he is expected to pay frequent visits at uncertain hours to various portions <br />of the City,and thus be able to observe all violations of ordinances, and to supervise the <br />conduct of the police force. <br />All ordinances or parts of ordinances in conflict herewith are hereby repealed. <br />Presented July 15,1905; Approved Ju13r 15th,1905. <br />Pres"Co ounc iT Mayor. <br />AN ORDINANCE PROHIBITING THE IMPING OF HOGS IN THE CORPORATE MITITS. <br />(Adopted July 13,1905 ) <br />BE IT ORDAIP]ED BY TNF COI:SIOIv COUi;CIL OF VrE CITY OF CHART OTTESVIL 2: <br />That hogs shall not be kept within the City Corporate limits. Neither shall hogs be <br />kept in pens nor small enclosures within one-quarter of a mile of the City Corporate limits <br />except from November 1st, to Yarch 31st, and then only by permit from the City Board of <br />Health. PENALTY one dollar per day for each hog. <br />All ordinances or parts of ordinances in conflict herewith are hereby repealed. <br />Presented July 15,1905; Approved July 15,1905. <br />�'mriCore01 o E�oianc %r iayor. <br />All ORDINANCE, TO PREVENT TIM, SISFAD OF CONTAGIOUS DISEASES. ✓ <br />( Adopted August 7th,1905 ) <br />BE IT ORDAIr�' BY TI1 CU..;1101 CODA IL OF T:T CITY OF CIURLO"LTESVILLE: <br />1. -- That children shall. be prohibited from attending all public gatherings in the City <br />and within one mile of the City limits until further notified by the Healt n Officer. <br />Any violation of this ordinance will subject the child to ten days quarantine. <br />26MM That any person en'.ering the premises of any house under quarantine shall be isolated <br />as a suspect for terl days. <br />36MM That any case of Scarlet Fever shall upon diagnosis immediately be reported to the <br />Health Officer who shall visit the case and in his discretion establish a strict quarantine <br />• <br />of all persons on the infected premises, resorting to guards when necessary, or remove the <br />ease to the City Hospital when persons remaining shall- be quarantined for ten days if he <br />deems it necessary. Fe sliall report the naves of all cases and suspects to the Chief of <br />Police who shall cause the arrest and removal to the detention camp of any person disobey- <br />ing the quarantine orders. <br />4. That any person or persons within the City Limits or within one mile of said limits <br />who shall knowinly fail to report to a physician any contagious disease occurring on the <br />• premises where sucl,i person or persons reside, shall be fined not less than fifty dollars <br />($50.00) per case. <br />5. •.. That a detention camp be provided for by the Board of Health for the purpose indicated <br />in the above ordinance. <br />6.That all dogs and cats on the pret:�ises of houses where Scarlet Fever exists shall <br />be either killed or placed in a detention cage in charge of the Chief of Police until such <br />houses have been fumigated,except when the owner will make such detention of the said <br />anirgals as shall be satisfactory to the Health Officer, <br />7•'- That the above ordinances in refernee to Scarlet Fever shall apply to Diphtheria, <br />Small Pox and to such other contagious diseases as shall be designated by the Health Boards, <br />•, (over) ;s. <br />
