AN ORDINANCE PROHIBITING GAMING IN THE CITY OF CHARLOTTESVILLE: (Adopted May 19, 1905) BE IT ORDAINED BY THE COMMON COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF CHARLOTTESVILLE, That, Any person who shall keep or maintain a house or apartment or room in which games of cards, or of chance, shall be habitually played for money or any thing to be cashed in as money, shall be fined not less than five dollars (%5.00) nor mor than fifty Dollars ($50.00) and be imprisoned in the City jail for not more than thirty (30) days. AN ORDINANCE REGULATING THE LAYING OF PAVEMENTS AND SIDEWALKS IN THE CITY OF CHARLOTTESVILLE: (Adopted May 19, 1905) BE IT ORDAINED BY THE COMMON COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF CHARLOTTESVILLE, That Sections 1 & 2 of Chapter 10 of the General Ordinances be amended and ___ To read as follows; Section 1, Whenever a new pavement of sidewalk shall be ordered by the Council or the Committee on Streets, the City shall cause the curb to be put down and the owner of the property along the boundary of which said sidewalk shall extend, shall be required to pay two-thirds (2/3) of the cost of constructing the same. Section 2, Whenever any citizen desires a sidewalk to be put down along the boundary of his property he shall in writing state to the Chairman of the Street Committee may order such side-walk as in their judgement they deem best, the City furnishing the curbing and paying one-third (1/3) of the cost of same. All ordinances of parts of ordinances conflicting herewith are hereby repealed. Presented to the Mayor May 20, 1905, returned to the Clerk May 25, 1905 With his signature. AN ORDINANCE TO AMEND AND RETRACT SECTION 5 OF THE ORDIANANCES REGULATING THE SELLING OF MILK IN THE ___ (Adopted June 8th, 1905) BE IT ORDAINED BY THE COMMON COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF CHARLOTTESVILLE: That section 5 of the Ordinance regulating the sale of milk in the City be amendable And re-enacted as follows; That dairies or the milk supplied therefrom shall be liable inspection by the Health Officer, and failure to maintain sanitary condition of dairies and milk utensils or use unhealthy cows or attempt to vend adulterated milk, or milk ___ The standard, shall be punishable by a fine not exceeding ten dollars ($10.00), or suspension of permit for 30 days to one year, or both in the discretion of the Court. Presented June 10, 1905; Approved June 10, 1905. AN ORDINANCE REPEALING THE SPECIFIC LISENCE TAX ON DAIRIES AND INSTEAD THEREOF REQUIRING THEM TO REGISTER. (Adopted June 8th, 1905) BE IT ORDAINED BY THE COMMON COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF CHARLOTTESVILLE: That the spcific licence tax on daries be repealed and instead thereof the following be enacted; 1st. That dairies vending milk in the City of Charlottesville shall register on or before July 1st, 1905 and shall pay in advance a registration fee of fifty cents per cow per annum to befray expenses of examination before permit be granted to vend milk. 2nd. -- No person shall vend milk in the City without a permit under penalty of one dollar to five dollars per day.
