14 <br /> <br />AN ORDINANCE AUTHORIZING THE MAYOR TO SIGN DEEDS FOR CEMETARY LOTS AND SECTIONS: <br /> <br />BE IT ORDAINED BY THE COMMON COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF CHARLOTTESVILLE: <br /> <br />That the Mayor of the City of Charlottesville shall have the authority and it shall be <br /> <br />his duty to convey by the deed with general warranty of title to any purchaser <br /> <br />thereof any section in any cemetery of the City to which the City has clear title, <br /> <br />upon a certificate from the City Treasurer that the purchase money for said section <br /> <br />has been fully paid. And to any such deed the Mayor shall havethe right and it shall <br /> <br />be his duty to attach the Seal of the City PROVIDED, However, that in any such deed <br /> <br />it shall be expressly set out that the section thereby convey shall be used for the <br /> <br />interment of which persons only, and that its management and control shall be <br /> <br />subject to any laws, ordinances or resolutions passed or thereafter passed, by the <br /> <br />City Council for the management, government or improvement of the cemetery in <br /> <br />which the section conveyed is located, or for the management, government or <br /> <br />improvement of the section in said cemetery. <br /> <br />This ordinance shall take effect from its passage. <br /> <br />Adopted June 14, 1906. Presented and approved June 19, 1906. <br /> <br />Vice President’s Signature Mayor’s Signature <br /> <br />AN ORDINANCE FIXING THE LISENCE TAX ON SHOWS AND CIRCUSES. <br /> <br />BE IT ORDAINED BY THE COMMON COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF CHARLOTTESVILLE, VA. <br /> <br />That on every license for shows within the limits of the City, or within one mile from <br /> <br />Such limits, the tax shall be as follows— <br /> <br />I.—On a circus or menagerie, tent show, or other such like exhibition or performance, <br /> <br />wheter combined or separate, the tax shall be seventy five dollars ($75.00) for the first <br /> <br />performance or exhibition, and thirty five dollars ($35.00) for each additional performances <br /> <br />or exhibition. <br /> <br />II.—On a side show attached to or exhibited with any circus, menagerie, tent show, or <br /> <br />other such like exhibition or performance within the corporate limits of the City, or <br /> <br />within one mile of the same, the tax shall be twenty dollars ($20.00) for each exhibition <br /> <br />or performance. <br /> <br />III.—That an ordinance entitled “An ordinance fixing the license tax on shows” approved <br /> <br />Oct., 13, 1905, is hereby repealed, and all other ordinances or parts of ordinances in <br /> <br />conflict herewith are also hereby repealed. <br /> <br />Adopted July 12, 1906.
