15 <br /> <br />AN ORDINANCE DEFINING THE DUTIES OF THE LIEUTENANT OF POLICE. <br /> <br />BE IT ORDAINED BY THE COMMON COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF CHARLOTTESVILLE, VA., <br /> <br />I. --- The Lieutenatn of Police must obey promptly all orders, note every case of mis- <br /> <br />conduct or neglect of duty on part of any policeman, and report the same to the Chief. <br /> <br />II. --The Lieutenant shall be on duty during the night, and shall patrol the beat in <br /> <br />which headquarters are located. He shall call to his assistance the watchman at City <br /> <br />Hall during the time required to see the other patrolmen. <br /> <br />III.-The Lieutenant shall, if possible, see each man on his beat without calling, but <br /> <br />should he not be able to find him, the call shall be given in the center and on each <br /> <br />extremity of the boat, and if unable then to find the man he is in search of, he shall <br /> <br />report to the Chief of Police the name of the man and cause of absence, if ascertained. <br /> <br />IV. -- The Lieutenant, at roll-call, shall inspect each and every Policeman, and be partic- <br /> <br />ular in noting that the dress is clean and the badge in proper place; that they have <br /> <br />attired and fit, and report to the Chief. <br /> <br />Adopted December 17, 1906. Presented and approved Dec. 18, 1906. <br /> <br />President’s Signature Mayor’s Signature <br /> <br /> <br />AN ORDINANCE FOR THE REGULATION OF ORDER AT BILLIARD SALOONS, POOL ROOMS, <br /> <br />BOWLING-ALLEYS, AND SHOOTING GALLERIES, AND TO EXCLUDE BOYS THEREFROM. <br /> <br />BE IT ORDAINED BY THE COMMON COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF CHARLOTTESVILLE, VA., <br /> <br />I.---That all BILLIARD SALOONS, POOL ROOMS, BOWLING-ALLEYS, AND SHOOTING <br /> <br />GALLERIES shall be every night during the week not later than 11:30 O’Clock, and remain <br /> <br />closed until seven (&) O’Clock the following morning. <br /> <br />II.--That no boys under sixteen (16) years of shall be allowed in the places named <br /> <br />above, unless they are there as employees, or attended by parent or guardian. <br /> <br />III.-That no intoxicating liquors shall be used or drunk at the places named above, <br /> <br />of any of them, at any time. <br /> <br />IV.--That no gambling, betting, or gambling devices shall be permitted at any time at <br /> <br />any of the places named above. <br /> <br />V.---Violation of this ORDINANCE shall be punishable by fine of not less than five <br /> <br />Dollars ($5.00) nor more than twenty-five dollars ($25.00) for each offence. <br /> <br />Adopted December 17, 1906.
