<br />That it shall be unlawful for any person to coast down Vinegar hill on a bicycle,
<br />
<br />wagon, sled or any other vehicle or contrivance.
<br />
<br />Any person violating this ordinance shall be fined not less than one dollar nor
<br />
<br />More than five dollars. This ordinance shall be in effect from the date of its
<br />
<br />passage.
<br />

<br />AN ORDIANCE REGUALTING THE SALE OF JAMAICA GINGER.
<br />
<br />BE IT ORDAINED BY THE COUNCIL OF CHARLOTTESVILLE,
<br />
<br />That it shall be unlawful for a druggist,or any other merchant,to sell,within the jurisdictional limits of the
<br />
<br />City, any Jamaica Ginger,except on the prescription of a licensed physician, which
<br />
<br />prescription shall not be refilled;provided,however,that any citizen shall have
<br />
<br />the privilege of applying for a prescription of this character to the City Physician,
<br />
<br />Who may provide it or not,as his judgement dictates;said prescription shall be free of
<br />
<br />cost and not to be re-filled.
<br />
<br />Any one violating this ordinance shall be fined not less than ten dollars.
<br />

<br />AN ORDINANCE REQUIRING A LICENSE FOR AND THE REGULATION OF,THE SALE OF CIDER
<br />
<br />IN THE CITY OF CHARLOTTESVILLE, VA.
<br />
<br />BE IT ORDAINED BY THE COUNCIL OF CHARLOTTESVILLE, That no liquid designated as
<br />
<br />cider of any sort shall be sold by any person or firm within the limits of the city
<br />
<br />of Charlottesville, Va. , unless the person or firm selling or offering for sale the
<br />
<br />same shall have first paid a license tax of $5. ,which shall be in addition to a
<br />
<br />merchants license on purchases,and also obtained a permit authorizing such sale,
<br />
<br />which permit shall be signed by a majority of the Police Committee of the Council
<br />
<br />of said City and approved by the Mayor; and provided further, that, if in the judgement
<br />
<br />of said committee the place of business of the person or firm operating under such
<br />
<br />license and permit becomes disorderly,or the traffic under such license and permit
<br />
<br />leads to disorder in the city, such license and permit may be revoked by a majority of
<br />
<br />said eommittee,with the approval of the Mayor, after twenty-four hours notice to the
<br />
<br />holder thereof.
<br />
<br />Any violation of this ordinance shall be punished by a fine of not less than
<br />
<br />five, nor more than fifty dollars, or confinement in jail not exceeding three months,
<br />
<br />or both fine and imprisonment, as in the discretion of the Police Justice or the
<br />
<br />Court may seem proper.
<br />
<br />This ordinance shall not apply to the sale of sweet cider sold by the person
<br />
<br />growing the fruit from which the cider was made.
<br />
<br />This ordinance shall be in force from and after May 1,1909.
<br />

<br />RESOLVED, BY THE COUNCIL OF CHARLOTTESVILLE,That section 70 of the License
<br />
<br />Ordinance, approved March 27, 1907, be amended and re-enacted to read as follows;
<br />
<br />Any person acting as peddler, as defined by the State Laws of Virginia, shall pay
<br />
<br />A license tax of one hundred and fifty dollars Not transferable. No pro rata.
<br />
