144 AN ORDIZTAhCE REGULATING THE LICENSING AIM OPERATING OF ATJTO?FOBILE BUSSES9 CO',"+"ONLY TNOnv AS JITNEY BUSSES, BF IT ORDAINED BY THE COUNCIL OF CHARLOTTESVILLE, That the owner of every automobile. bus, or other automobile commonly known as a jitney -bus operating on the streets of Charlottesville shah. conform to the following requirements and evary skoh vehicle i shnall be operated in pursuance of the rules, regulations, restrictions and condition, I hereinafter prescribed and set forth: 1. The owner of such vehicle or ve'-icles shall obtain a license for the right to operate each vehicle by making written application to the Comrissioner of Revenue for the City on a printed form to be prescribed by and furnished by the said Commissioner: by paying a license fee or tax according to the following scale: $30* for each vehicle seating from one to four passengers: $40o for each vehicle seating from five to seven passengers, and for eacl1, vehicle with a seating; capacity above seven $3, additional for each unit of seating capacity in excess thereof: and by executing and delivering to the Mayor, to be filed with the City Auditor, a bond with surety for the sum of ,2,000o satisfactory to the City Attorney, conditioned that the maker of the bond and sureties and endorsers thereof shall be liable in and for all damagee to any person accepted as a passenger on suer vesicle or damage to any other person, proximately caused by the negligent op --,ration thereof or by any known patent defect in such vehicl.e. The Commissioner of the aevenue shall upon approval of application, pavment of license tax, and filing of bond hereinbefore provided for, place such application with the Treasurer of the City, who shall deliver to t"le applicant a written license, 2. The owner of a licensed vehicle may, after having complied with the State Litems laws, temporarily substitute for it another vehicle of the same seating capacity, provided however teat if such substitution is to continue for a period exceeding? days/ a description of such ve icle shall be filed with and approved by the yayor, 3. Such vehicle shall be operated only by porsons over sixteen years of age, and .
