HEADLIGHTS. <br /> <br />BE IT ORDAINED BY THE COUNCIL OF CHARLOTTESVILLE , That no operator of any auto- <br /> <br />mobile or other motor vesicle of any other kind, while operating the same upon any <br /> <br />public highray within the limits of Charlottesville, shall use any acetylene, <br /> <br />electric or otter headlight on such vehicle unless such headlight be properly <br /> <br />designed, covered, shaded, deflected, dimmed or lowered so that it will not blind <br /> <br />or dazzle other users of the highway or make it difficult or unsafe for them to ride, <br /> <br />drive or wall thereon; and any person voilating is provision shall be subject to <br /> <br />a fine of not less than $1. nor more than $5. for each and every first offense, and <br /> <br />to a fine of not less than $5. and not more than $25, for each and every second or <br /> <br />subsequent offense. <br /> <br />Sec. 2. And be it further ordained, That for the purpose of making this ordinance <br /> <br />fully effective the owner of any motor vellicle operated contrary to the provisions <br /> <br />thereof shall be deemed prima facie the operator thereof. <br /> <br />presented and approved August 13,1915. President Singnature. <br /> <br /> <br />SEC. 176 1/2 HEADLIGHTS. <br /> <br />BE IT ORDAINED BY THE COUNCIL OF CHARLOTTESVILLE, that section 176 1/2 of the <br /> <br />Code, entilted "Headlights", as adopted by by the Council August 12,1915, be amended <br /> <br />re -enacted to read as follows: <br /> <br />That no operator of any automobile or other motor vehicle of any other kind, <br /> <br />while operating the same upon Main Street within the corporate limits of Charlottesville, <br /> <br />shall use any acetylene, electric or other headlight on such vehicle unless such <br /> <br />headlight be properly designed, covered, shaded, deflected, dimmed or lowered to <br /> <br />that it will not blind or dazzle other users of the highway or make it difficult <br /> <br />ur unsafe for there to ride, drive or walk thereon, and any person violating this <br /> <br />provision shall be subject to a fine of not less than $1, mor more than $5. for each <br /> <br />knd every offense; and to a fine of not lass than $5. and not more than $25, for <br /> <br />each and every subsequent or second offense. <br /> <br />Sec. 2.
