A RESOLUTION.

<br />BE IT RESOLVED, BY THE COMMON COUNCIL OF CITY OF CHARLOTTESVILLE, THE BOARD
<br />
<br />OF ALDERMEN CONCURRING, That R. E. Young & Company be and they are hereby authorized
<br />
<br />to tap the City Sewer main and to dispose of drainage from thrir plant into said
<br />
<br />sewer main through a connection to be made near Wingfield's store at Meade Avenue,
<br />
<br />and that the City pay one* half of the expense, not to exceed $350. , of constructirg
<br />
<br />the pipe line from the North side of the C. O. Railway to the point of connection
<br />
<br />as aforesaid, provided that the said Young A Co. shall execute a satisfactory _
<br />
<br />fying bond in the penalty of $10,000, and that the Mayor be and he is hereby autroritiz-
<br />
<br />ed to execute proper contmact in regard to same.

<br />AN ORDINANCE:
<br />
<br />BE IT ORDAINED, BY THE COMMON COUNCIL OF CHARLOTTESVILLE, THE BOARD OF ALDERMEN
<br />
<br />CONCURRING, That the levy for the expenses of the city government for the fiscal
<br />
<br />year beginning September 1,1916 and ending August 31,1917, Shall be as follows:
<br />
<br />On all taxable real estate and on all taxable personal property and on all taxable
<br />
<br />tangible property of public service corporations, a tax be levied of $1.37-1/2 on each
<br />
<br />$100. assessed valuation thereof, and that upon all intangible personal property, as
<br />
<br />classified and defined by an Act of the Peneral Assembly of Virginia, Chapter 117
<br />
<br />of the Acts of the special session aforesaid, 1915, approved March 17,1915, which
<br />
<br />classification is hereby adopted, a tax of 30 cents on each $100 valuation thereof
<br />
<br />be levied.
<br />
<br />On all bank stock a tax of $1.15 on each $100 valuation thereof be levied.
<br />
<br />Be it further ordained, That a tax of 20 cents on each $100. valuation Of all
<br />
<br />real estate and tangible personal property be levied for the bentfit of the Public
<br />
<br />schools.
<br />
<br />Be it further ordained, That a tax of 50 cents be and is hereby levied on all
<br />
<br />male persons in the City over 21 years of afire, who are not exempt from taxation by law.
<br />
<br />Bet further ordained That the budget for the fiscal year ending August 31, 1917.
<br />
<br />and for the quarter ending November 30th, shall be as follows:
