<br />Resolved, by the Cormnon Council of Charlottesville,The Board of Aldermen concurring
<br />
<br />That in order that the City Manarer be provided with means of transportation in the
<br />
<br />prosecution of his duties in the City, and in order trat he may aided in providing
<br />
<br />a vehicle out of his own resources, sum of $175. be and is hereby appropriated
<br />
<br />for the six months from March 1st to September 1st, 1917, as commutation of transpor-
<br />
<br />tation, said sum to be paid him when needed.

<br />A RESOLUTION PROVIDING FOR AN ASSISTANT TO CITY MANAGER FOR _ ONE YEAR.

<br />Resolved, by the Common Council of Charlottesville, The Board of Aldermen concurring,
<br />
<br />That Shelton S. Fife be engauged to assit the City Manager in the engineering
<br />
<br />work of tre City, as per his position to the Mayor and City Manager February 8,
<br />
<br />1917, for one year from March 1,1917, at a salary of $1,200. less such sum as he
<br />
<br />may receive from the Southern railway Company for his services an inspector on the
<br />
<br />cement bridge over Main Street. He shall be subject to to the control and supervision
<br />
<br />of the City Managrer with power to dispense with his services at hid pleasure.
<br />

<br />A RESOLUTION APPROPRIATIGN $2500. FOR STREET IMPROVMENT:

<br />Resolved, By the Common Council of Charlottesville, The Board of Aldermen Concurring,
<br />
<br />That the sum of $2500. be and is hereby appropriated to do the following street
<br />
<br />worl; $500 for the purchase of drain pipe, and $2000. for rough grading, draining and
<br />
<br />crowning important streets. Said sum to be expended in the discretion of Street
<br />
<br />Committee and City Manager on such streets as they may beem necessary.
