A RESOLUTION APPOPRIATING $8,800. TO BUILD CEMENT ROAD AND LAY SEWER LLINES ON FREE

<br />BRIDGE ROAD.
<br />
<br />Whereas, at a joint meeting of the two finance committee, March 12, the manner
<br />
<br />of financing and the advisability and the advantages to the City of a concrete road
<br />
<br />from, Locust Grove Avenue to the Free Bridge, to be built in connection with the
<br />
<br />County of Albemarle, were fully discussed, and the building of such, road was
<br />
<br />unanimously recommended by the committees, therefore be it resolved by the Common
<br />
<br />Council, the Board of Aldermen concurring, that the sum of $8,800. be and is hereby
<br />
<br />appropriated to be spent as follows; $7,000, or so much thereof as may be necessary,
<br />
<br />for the construction of the concrete road from the Last side of Locust Grove Avenue
<br />
<br />to the City Limits, per specifications of the City Manager; $1,800., or so much
<br />
<br />thereof as may be necessary, to lay the necessary sewer lines and its laterals in
<br />
<br />connection with this road. Resolved, further, That the City Manager and the Street
<br />
<br />Committee are hereby authorized to proceed with this work when they are satisfied
<br />
<br />that the County is ready to contract and complete their portion of tris road fromtre
<br />
<br />City limits to the Free Bridge.

<br />AN ORDINANCE TO LEVY A TAX ON PERSONS AND PROPERTY IN THE ANNEXED TERRITORY FOR 1917,
<br />
<br />Be it ordained, by the Common Council of Charlottesville, the Board of Aldermen
<br />
<br />concurring, That on all tangible personal property and real estate situated in the
<br />
<br />territory annexed to the City of Charlottesville by order of the Circuit Court of
<br />
<br />Albemarle County, entered on the 14th of February 1916, and which became effective on
<br />
<br />the 15th day of May 1916, the Council of the City of Charlottesville hereby levies a
<br />
<br />tax for the year 1917 as follows:
<br />
<br />On all male persons over 21 years of age and not exempt under the law, 50 cents.
<br />
<br />For local City government $.80 on the $100.
<br />For City Schools---------- .40 on the $100.
<br />For old soldiers' pensions .05 on the $100
<br />On bank stock---- .95 on each $100
<br />On each male dog $1.00, on each female dog $2.00
<br />
<br />This levy is to apply exclusively to the said annexed territory to the City of
<br />
<br />Charlottesville, and is made pursuant to the order of the Circuit Court above referred to.
<br />
