<br />A Resolution appropriating $6,000 for construction of cement roadway on West ?fain St.
<br />Resolved, by the Board of Aldermen, the Common Cotanci 1 concurring,
<br />That for the piiri.ose of laying a concrete pavement on We Main Streat from
<br />the end of the brick pavement to the rest side of the intersection of W. Dain and
<br />Rugby Road' the sum of $8,000, or so much thereof as may be necessary be, and is
<br />hereby appropriated, and tre City Manager and Street Committee are authorized to
<br />have the work done by contract or by tre City force, provided that the C? & A. Ry.
<br />Company will pave its ripi)t of way as required ir. its contract witt. Albemarle Co. ,
<br />and that the property owners from Chancellor Street to 15th Street pay their
<br />part of tre cost of laying new concrete walks where necessitated by the plan;
<br />and t'r.-at Madison Aall allow the City to cut off 25 feet of its property at the
<br />c�;~'ner of Rugby Road without charge to the City; and that the University of Va.
<br />pay $2,000 into the City treasury to be applied on the cost of laying the road.

<br />the wealth Be it Ordained by the Board of Aldermen, the Common Council concur ring,That,
<br />Board,
<br />le The Board of Health shall take such steps, in co^rpliance with law, as it
<br />deems wise and necessary to control communicable .diseases, to abate nuisances, to
<br />supervise medical inspection of school children and school nursing, and to control
<br />all sanitary activities of the city.
<br />2. The Board of vealt:h shall. report to the city council once each month.
<br />It shall at the same t ime request assistance of or recommend a course of action
<br />to
<br />the City Council
<br />if
<br />in their opinion such assistance or action by the Council
<br />is
<br />deemed necessary
<br />and
<br />advisable.
<br />3. The Board of Health shall issue regulations designed to make the opterati on
<br />of health laws uniform within their juriddiction.
<br />4. The Board of Health shall have authority to act as the agent of the City
<br />in all matters that arise relative to the health and sanitation of the city,
