A Resolution appropriating $6,000 for construction of cement roadway on West Main St. <br /> <br />Resolved, by the Board of Aldermen, the Common Council concurring, <br /> <br />That for the purpose of laying a concrete pavement on West Main Street from <br /> <br />the end of the brick pavement to the rest side of the intersection of W. Main and <br /> <br />Rugby Road the sum of $8,000, or so much thereof as may be necessary be, and is <br /> <br />hereby appropriated, and tre City Manager and Street Committee are authorized to <br /> <br />have the work done by contract or by the City force, provided that the C & A. Ry. <br /> <br />Company will pave its right of way as required in its contract witt. Albemarle Co. , <br /> <br />and that the property owners from Chancellor Street to 15th Street pay their <br /> <br />part of tre cost of laying new concrete walks where necessitated by the plan; <br /> <br />and that Madison Hall allow the City to cut off 25 feet of its property at the <br /> <br />corner of Rugby Road without charge to the City; and that the University of Va. <br /> <br />pay $2,000 into the City treasury to be applied on the cost of laying the road. <br /> <br />Adopted by the Board of Aldermen Apr. 16, 1919 <br />Ayes: Patton, Timberlake Walker. and Wheeler. <br />Concurred in by Common Council Apr. 23, 1919 <br />Ayes:Elliott,Forreat,Gleason,Huyett, <br />Long, Twyman and Via. The Board of Health shall take such steps, in compliance with law, as it <br /> <br />deems wise and necessary to control communicable diseases, to abate nuisances, to <br /> <br />supervise medical inspection of school children and school nursing, and to control <br /> <br />all sanitary activities of the city. <br /> <br />2. The Board of Health shall report to the city council once each month. <br /> <br />It shall at the same time request assistance of or recommend a course of action <br /> <br />to the City Council if in their opinion such assistance or action by the Council <br /> <br />is deemed necessary and advisable. <br /> <br />3. The Board of Health shall issue regulations designed to make the opteration <br /> <br />of health laws uniform within their juriddiction. <br /> <br />4. The Board of Health shall have authority to act as the agent of the City <br /> <br />in all matters that arise relative to the health and sanitation of the city, <br /> <br />5.
