Cramber of Commerce and said County of Albemarle shall each provide and pay a like

<br />sum for said purpose, the sum of one thousand dollars or so much thereof as shall
<br />
<br />be necessary is hereby appropriated to be expended by said sanitarium in construct-
<br />
<br />ing a water pipe from the city's water cysten to said sanitarium, and in addition,
<br />
<br />said sanitarium may use water free of charge from the city's water system, for a
<br />
<br />term of five years, next hereafter ensuing, but upon the condition that the water
<br />
<br />shall not be wasted, and the use not greater in quantity per capita than is used
<br />
<br />at other like institutions.

<br />needs of the City Fire Department:

<br />Resolved, by the Common Council, the Board of Aldermen concurring,
<br />
<br />That the sum of $150. or so much thereof as mays be necessary be and is hereby
<br />
<br />appropriated for the use of the Public Safety Committee to be used for the purpose
<br />
<br />of studying the needs of the Charlottesville Fire Department for a more adequate and
<br />
<br />satisfactory Fire Department.

<br />An Ordinance amending and re-enacting Sec.336 and 338 of an Ordinance adopted by the
<br />
<br />Common Council on December 12,1918, and concurred in by the Board of Aldermen on
<br />
<br />December16,1918, and approved by the Mayor on December 17,1918:
<br />
<br />Be it Ordained by the Common Council of Charlottesvile, the Board of Aldermen
<br />
<br />Concurring, That Sections 336 and 338, above referred to, be and they are hereby
<br />
<br />amended to read as follows:
<br />
<br />
<br />Sec.336. BOARD OF HEALTH. The Board of Health shall be composed of five memebers,
<br />
<br />two of whom shall be physicians or trained sanitarians, to be elected beennually by
<br />
<br />the joint meeting of the Board of Aldermen and Conunon Council, and the said Board shall
<br />
<br />have the power to employ a Sanitary Inspector who shall be subject to the orders and
<br />
<br />under the control of the Board of Health and shall serve for such length of time as
<br />
<br />said board may deem wise or necessary aid Inspector shall perform such duties
<br />
<br />as may require of him by said Board of Health, not inconsistent with the constitu-
<br />
<br />tion and laws of the City and State, and shalt receive such compensation for services
<br />
<br />as the Board of Health may direct, to be paid by the City as other employees are paid
<br />
<br />but said compensation shall not exceed $125.00 per month.
<br />
<br />Sec.338. It shall be the duty of the Board of Health to care for the poor, who have
<br />
<br />a just claim upon the City's bounty, and they are authorized to seek and use the
<br />
<br />co-operation of the Charlottesville Public Health and Pistrict Nursing Assocation
<br />
<br />The appropriation for the poor may be disbursed only on vouchers approved bt the
<br />
<br />Chairman of the Health Board.
<br />
<br />All ordinances or parts of ordinances in conflict with these enactments are hereby
<br />
<br />repealed.
