<br />SEC. 337c. Dt1TIES OF ?TEALTTT BOARn. In case that the Council and Aldermen decide
<br />to elect a wealth Officer in conjunction with. the County, then the City ryealtl, Board
<br />shall join with a similar trealth Board from the County and act as one body -provided,
<br />however, that the City Health Board shall act independently in regard to local City
<br />health matters. It shall further be the duty of the City uealtr Board to present to
<br />every regular meeting of the City Council, a complete statement of the status and
<br />activities of health work in City and County and shall submit quarterly statements
<br />of funds expanded, and an estimated budget for balance of the year.

<br />have a just claim upon the City's bounty, and tiley are autho ri zwd to seek and use
<br />the cotoperation of the Charlottesville Public wealth and District "urding, Association#
<br />Tha appropriation for the poor may be disbursed only on vou0,ers approved by the
<br />Chairman of t'he health Board.
<br />SIC* 344. SANITARY INSPS;CTOR. In o *der to mare effectually carry out the ordinances
<br />with regard to the health and cleanliness of the City, a sanitary Inspector shall be
<br />appointed under the provision of Sec.337a, whose duty it shall be to make careful
<br />inspection of t"ne premises of all public buildings of the City, and of all other
<br />buildings, residences or places of business, cellars, grounds or other appurtenances
<br />thereto, which aro requ red by the health laws of the City to be kept in a cleanly
<br />and healt'�• condition, and to serve notice upon the occupants thereof to abate or
<br />remove any nuisance which he may find existing thereon. He shall be subj ect to
<br />the orders and under the control of the Board of ITealth and shall serve for such
<br />i en-th of time as said Board may deem necessary. Inspectiam shall be made quarterly
<br />or oftener, if deemed necessary by the Board of health.
<br />All ordinances or parts of ordinances in conflict with these ordinances or parts
<br />of ordinances, are hereby repealed.

<br />Wherk;as, Tile City of Charlottesville having received from "Fr. Paul G. VcIntir•
<br />the offer of a Public library including building, furniture, fixtures, equipment of
<br />books, etc,, and
<br />Whereas•, on March 21,1919, the Common Council and the Board of Aldermen in
<br />Joint session gratefully accepted the generous gift and "pledged their support and
<br />cooperation including► the provision of the necessary means for efficient maintenance,"
<br />which pledge is herein repeated as a part of this ordinance. Therefore
<br />Be it enacted by the Board of Aldermen, the Co!nmon Council concurring, that:
<br />1. A Board of nirectors consisting of seven members, to be known as the Library
<br />Board of Charlottesville, is hereby authorized, and John S. Patton, J. TT, Dillard,
<br />IT, S. hedges, ?pias Carrie Burnley, W. 0. Watson, 1"re. E. W. Johnson and T. E. Powers
<br />shall constitute said Board.
<br />2• Vacancies in this library board shall be filled by election. No election
<br />shall be legal unless four votes, 'at leat, are recorded by members of said board
