V. That it is hereby ordered that an election be held on the 10th day of <br /> <br />April, 1923, at which qualified voters may vote for or against sanctioning the said <br /> <br />issues of bonds or either of said issues or series, that is to say for one or both of <br /> <br />the following: <br /> <br />$290,000.00 (Two hundred and ninety thousand dollars for public school <br /> <br />expansion and improvement; <br /> <br />$25, 000.00 () Twnty-five thousand dollars* for Armory Improvement; <br /> <br />Or against one ore both of the issues or Series of bonds just named by <br /> <br />drawing a line through the issue or issues or Series it is desired to vote against; <br /> <br />said election to be held in accordance with Section twenty-four (24) of the City Charter <br /> <br />and laws of Virginia regarding elections by the people <br /> <br />V1. That the Mayor of said City be and he is hereby authorized and directed <br /> <br />to give the required notice by publication in a newspaper published in the City of <br /> <br />Charlottesville for four successive weeks of the holding of said election pursuant <br /> <br />to the provision of Section twenty-four (24) of said City Charter. <br /> <br />Adopted by the Council March 5th, 1923, <br />Ayes, Brown and Joachim, Noes none. <br /> <br />Clerk Signature. <br />Presidnet Singature. <br /> <br /> <br />FIRE LIMITS OF THE CITY OF CHARLOTTESVILLE: <br /> <br />CONGESTED FIRE LIMITS. <br /> <br />Be it ordained by the Council of the City of Charlottesville that within <br /> <br />the City of Charlottesville the following Fire Limits are hereby established and em- <br /> <br />brace all the territory included within the following boundaries: <br /> <br />Beginning at hte ivy Road at the Western end of the limits of the City <br /> <br />of Charlottesville, thence following the limits of hte City of Charlottesville, by a <br /> <br />broken line in general northeasterly direction to the Old Barracks Road, also called <br /> <br />Preston Ave., thence in sourtherly direction along the Old Barracks Road or Preston <br /> <br />Ave to a point where Charlton Avenue, if extended, would meet the Old Barracks Road, <br /> <br />thence in a southeasterly direction along Charlton Avenue to the new double track <br /> <br />line of the Southern Railroad, thence following the line along where Charlton Avenue <br /> <br />would run if it were extended, in a straight line to the old line if the Southern <br /> <br />raiload to Gordon Nelson's line thence with this line to the Wine Cellar line thence <br /> <br />in a northebsterly direction the line of the corporate Limits of the City of Char - <br /> <br />lttesville, before the extension of 1916, thence following said old Corporate line to <br /> <br />Park Street, t iience in a straight line in a Northeasterly direction to the Northweatern <br /> <br />end of hazel Avenue, thence along Hazel Avenue to the Free Bridge Road, thence up the <br /> <br />Free Bridge road in a westerly direction to Meade Avenue, thence along laeade Avenue to <br /> <br />Market Street, thence in a straight line to were Carlton Road crosses the C. & 0. <br /> <br />Railroad, thence along Carlton Road to Carlton Avenue and along Carlton Avenue a few <br /> <br />feet to the Present, Corporate limits of the City of Charlottesville, thence along the _ <br /> <br />line to Elliott Ave. thence along Elliott Ave. , to the Scottsville Road thence in a straight <br /> <br />line to the Eastern end of Lankford Aveethenoe following Lankford Ave to ridge Street,thence <br /> <br />Alonp- an unnamed:.alleyujn;,,ths line of thl extenefon, f an for4 Alro.t.Q 6th t S kinl`fCe alS <br /> <br />in a nprtherly direction along 9t St. S.W. to Chert St. thence along Cherry StBet <br /> <br />Street to to the Corporate limits of the City of Charlottesville thence following the <br /> <br />corporate Limits of the City of Charlottesville as established in 1916 by the annexation <br /> <br />to the Point of the beginning. <br /> <br />Withing these Fire Limits not more than one thousand gallong of gasoline <br /> <br />benzine or naptha,,shall be stored or kept for sale upon any lotandno tank for the <br /> <br />storage of gasoline'benzinf or naptha having a capacity of more than one thousand <br /> <br />gallon2 shall be installed, or used for the storage of gasoline benzine, or naptha, <br /> <br />and no wood shingle roof shall be hereafter laid upon any building whether now erected <br /> <br />or hereafter built, and no wood shingle roof now on any building , ithin the said Fire <br /> <br />Limits shall be repaired with wood shingles. But nothing in this ordinance shall <br /> <br />authorize the c )nstruction of any building within the more congested territory desig- <br /> <br />nated by this ordinance as "Congested Fire Limits" which is proilibited by existing <br /> <br />ordinances. <br /> <br />The Territor designated as the "Fire Limits" by previous Ordinances is <br /> <br />hereby designated hs the "_Fire Limits". <br /> <br />repealed.
