extenstion of Lankford Ave., to 5th Street, S. W. tnense along 5th S. W. in a westerly <br /> <br />direction to Apple Street, thence in a straight line to Elm Street, and along Elm Street <br /> <br />to 9th Str. S. W. thence in a northerly direction along 9th St, S. W. to Cherry Street, <br /> <br />thence along Cherry Street to the Corporate limits of the City of Charlottesville, thence <br /> <br />following the Corporate limits of the City of Charlottesville as established in 1916 by <br /> <br />the annexation to the point of the beginning. <br /> <br />Within these fire limits not move than one thousand gallons of gasoline, benzine <br /> <br />or naptha shall be stored or kept for sale upon an lot, and no tank for the storage of <br /> <br />gasoline, benzine, or naptha having a capacity of more than one thousand gal lons shall be <br /> <br />installed, or used for the storage of gasoline, benzine or naptha. The territory designated <br /> <br />as the "Fire Limits" by previous ordinances is hereby designated as the "Congested Fire Limits. <br /> <br />C. PENALTIES FOR VIOLATION OF FIRE LIMITS ORDIANCE. <br /> <br />An violations of any of the provisions of this ordinance shall be punished by a fine <br /> <br />not less than $10.00 or more than $100.00 for each offense, each day such violations con- <br /> <br />tinues shall constitute a separate offense. <br /> <br />SEC. 8 INCOMBUSTIBLE WALLS, CORNICES, AND ROOFS REQUIRED WITHIN <br /> <br />CONGESTED FIRE LIMITS. <br /> <br />Every building hereafter erected or enlarged within the congested fire limits <br /> <br />shall be enclosed on all sides with walls constructed whzbly of stone, well -burned trek, con- <br /> <br />crete, or other equivalent incombustible materials; and shall have the roof, top and sides <br /> <br />of all root structures, including dormer windows, covered with incombustible material. <br /> <br />All cornices shall be incombustible material except residences. <br /> <br />SEC. 9 PERMISSIBLE WOODEN STRUCTURES WITHIN CONGESTED FIRE LIMITS. <br /> <br />No frame or wooden structure shall hereafter be built within the congested fire <br /> <br />limits as given herein, or within the congested fire limits hereafter established, except the <br /> <br />following and all roofs placed upon such buildings or structures shall have an incombustible <br /> <br />covering. <br /> <br />(a) Temporary one -storey frame buildings for use or builders. No frame building shall <br /> <br />be moved from without to within the congested fire limits. <br /> <br />(b) Bay window when covered with incombustible material. <br /> <br />SEC. 10 REPARING FRAME BUILDING WITHIN CONGESTED FIRE LIMITS. <br /> <br />Argy exi st ing frame building within the congested fire limits, which may hereafter <br /> <br />be damaged by fire, decay, or otherwise to an amount greater than one-half of its present <br /> <br />talue, exclusive of the foundation, shall not be repaired or rebuilt, but shall be removed. <br /> <br />SEC. 11. WHAT BUILDINGS REQUIRED TO BE FIREPROOF. <br /> <br />(a) All buildings erected for tae use of a public garage, coffee roaster, stable <br /> <br />bakery, or dry cleaning establishment within the fire lints shall be of fireproof construction. <br /> <br />(b) All buildings over 100 feet in height shall be of fireproof construction <br /> <br />Adopted by the Council.
