4361� <br />strued as to effectuate its general purpose to make <br />uniform the laws of the State of Virginia, relat- <br />ing to motor vehicles and their operation. If any <br />part or parts, sections, sub -sections, sentence, <br />clause or phrase of this ordinance is for any rea- <br />son declared to be unconstitutional, such decision <br />shall not affect the validity of the remaining por- <br />tions of this ordinance. <br />Section 74. Short Title.—This ordinance may <br />be cited as the Uniform Traffic Ordinance. <br />II. REPEALr--That all ordinances and parts <br />of ordinances in conflict with the provisions of this <br />ordinance be and the same are hereby repealed. <br />III. This ordinance shall be in force from its <br />passage. <br />Adopted by the Council July 19, 1926. <br />A Copy Teste : <br />H. A. HADEN <br />Clerk of Council <br />PARKING VEHICLES ON THE STREETS <br />OF THE CITY <br />BE IT ORDAINED, by the Council of the City <br />of Charlottesville as follows: <br />1. Except as authorized in this ordinance no <br />vehicle shall be parked except parallel with and <br />close to the right hand curb and in no instance <br />shall such vehicles be parked less than four feet <br />apart, nor with the rear wheels further than six <br />inches from the curb. <br />2. No vehicle shall be parked on Main Street <br />from Seventh Street East to Preston Ave., be- <br />tween 7 A. M. and 7 P. M. for a period of more <br />than thirty minutes. <br />3. No vehicle shall be parked on any of the <br />streets of the City for a period of more than one <br />hour between twelve o'clock midnight and six <br />A. M. <br />4. Parking is permitted only on the designated <br />side of the following streets: <br />On the East side of Rugby Road from Main <br />Street to a point opposite the entrance to Way- <br />side Place; on the North side of Linden Ave., <br />from Rugby Road to the northern end of Univer- <br />sity Way; and on the East side of University <br />Way. <br />5. Diagonal parking may be permitted by the <br />police department as follows: <br />On the South side of Water Street; on Third <br />Street East between Water Street and Market <br />Street; on Market Street West of Seventh Street, <br />r.ast: and on West Main Street between Fifteenth <br />Street and Elliewood Avenue. <br />Every person convicted of violation of this or- <br />dinance shall for the first conviction thereon be <br />punished by a fine of not less than $2.50; for a <br />second such conviction within one year such per- <br />son shall be punished by a fine of not less than <br />$5.00. Upon a third or subsequent conviction <br />within one year such person shall be punished by <br />a fine of not less than $10.00. <br />All ordinances or parts of ordinances in so far <br />as the same are in conflict herewith are hereby <br />repealed. <br />Adopted by the Council July 19, 1926 <br />A Copy Teste : <br />H.
