1 <br />1 <br />1 <br />Adopted by the Council May 1, 1933, <br />Ayes: Mr, Fife, Dr. Haden, Messrs, <br />Huff, Jessup and Twyman. <br />Noes: None* <br />Cleric res e <br />AN OIRDINANCE AMENDING THE CITY CODE OF 1932 BY ADDING A NEW SECTION THERETO, <br />DESIGNATED AS SECTION 430 (1) HEADED ~SECTION 430 (1) RECREATIONAL BOARD -- <br />POWERS AND DUTIES". <br />BE IT ORDAINED by the Council of the City of Charlottesville that the City Code of 1932, <br />be amended by adding a new section which is designated as Section 430 (1), and the same is <br />hereby enacted to read as follows <br />SECTION 430 (1). RECREATIONAL BOARD --POWERS AND DUTIES. <br />The City Manager, the Health Officer and Superintendent of Public Welfare <br />shall constitute and be known as the City Recreational Board, which shall have <br />specific charge of all recreational activities in the public parks of the City. <br />The Board shall make and enforce such rules and regulations relative to the use <br />to said parks for recreational purposes as may be necessary, and the same when <br />approved by the Council and duly posted and published shall have the same force w <br />w <br />and effect as the ordinances of the City* <br />The Board shall from time to time make such recommendations to the Council as <br />may be necessary for the public health and general welfare, but no financial ob- <br />ligation shall be incurred by said Board beyond the amount appropriated by the <br />Council• <br />This ordinance shall be in force and effect from its passage, and all ordinances or parts <br />of ordinances in conflict herewith are hereby repealed. <br />Adopted by the Council June 19, 1933. <br />Ayes Mr. Fife, Dr. Haden, Messrs. <br />Huff, Jessup and Twyman. <br />Noes: None* <br />er <br />Frealdent <br />ANNUAL TAX LEVY IMPOSING TAXES ON PERSONS AND PROPERTY FOR THE PAYMENT OF INTEREST <br />ON THE CITY DEBT, FOR CREATING A SINKING FUND THEREFOR, FOR THE SUPPORT OF THE CITY <br />GOVERNMENT AND CITY SCHOOLS, AND FOR OTHER EXPENSES. <br />BE IT ORDAINED by the Council of the City of Charlottesville that for the year beginning the <br />first day of January, 1933, and ending the thirty-first day of December, 1933, and each year there• <br />after while this ordinance is in force, the taxes on persons and property for local purposes shall <br />be as follows: <br />GENERAL LEVY* <br />1. Land, Lots and Buildings. <br />On tracts of land and lots and improvements thereon not exempt from taxation, <br />there shall be a.tax of $1.05 (one dollar and five centsi on every $100.00 assessed <br />value thereof to pay the general operating expenses of the City government and to pay <br />the interest and sinking fund on the City debt other than schools, and there shall <br />be levied an additional tax on every $100.00 assessed value thereof of 2a (twenty- <br />three cents) to pay the interest and sinking fund on school bonds and 57v(fifty-seven <br />cents) for the maintenance and operating of the city schools. <br />2. Tangible Personal Property. <br />Upon all tangible personal property as defined by State Tax Law, not exempt from <br />taxation, there shall be a tax of $1.05 (one dollar and five cents) on every $100.00 <br />assessed value thereof to pay the general operating expenses of the City government <br />and to pay the interest and sinking fund on the City debt other than schools,and there <br />shall be levied an additional tax on every $100.00 assessed value thereof of 25ji <br />(twenty-three cents) to pay the interest and sinking fund on school bonds and 57e <br />(fifty-seven cents) for the maintenance and operating of the city schools. <br />J <br />W <br />10 <br />
