| AN ORDINANCE AMENDING AND REENACTING SECTION 489 (69) OF THE CITY CODE 
<br />OF 1932, ENTITLED MAYOR AND CHIEF OF POLICE TO HAVE GENERAL SUPERVISION 
<br />OVER TRAFFIC, 
<br />BE IT ORDAINED by the Council of the City of Charlottesville that Section 489 (69) 
<br />of the City Code of 1932, be amended and reenacted so as to read as follows: 
<br />SECTION 489 (69), Mayor and Chief of Police to have general supervision over 
<br />Traffic - Traffic Signs. 
<br />The Mayor and Chief of Police shall have general supervision and control 
<br />of the management and parking of vehicles in the interest of public safety, 
<br />comfort and convenience not inconsistent with_ the provisions of this section 
<br />' or of Chapter 342 of the Acts of the General Assembly of Virginia, 1932, 
<br />and any amendments thereto, cited as "The Motor Vehicle Code of Virginia." 
<br />Persons using the sidewalks and streets of the City shall comply at all times 
<br />and places with any direction by voice, hand, whistle, sign or signal from 
<br />any member of the police force as to the starting, stopping, slowing, parking, 
<br />approaching or departing from any place; also as to the manner of taking up 
<br />or setting down passengers, and in loading and unloading vehicles. 
<br />The Chief of Police shall have authority to place upon the sidewalks and 
<br />O streets of the City such signs, signals and other devices for handling traffic 
<br />as he may deem necessary, provided the same are placed in accordance with 
<br />Traffic Regulations which have been approved by the Mayor. 
<br />It shall be unlawful for any person to violate any such Traffic Regulation, 
<br />sign, signal or other devices for handling traffic, and any person violating 
<br />any of the provisions of this subsection shall be liable to a fine of not 
<br />less than $2.50 nor more than $25.00. 
<br />This ordinance shall be in force and effect from its passage, and all ordinances, 
<br />or parts of ordinances, in conflict herewith, are hereby repealed.

<br />AN ORDINANCE ADDING A NDV SECTIC17 TO THE CITY CODE OF 1932, DESIGNATED SECTION 
<br />49:�- (42a) , PROVIDING FOR THE PLACING OF VENT PIPES FOR GAS APPLIANCES. 
<br />BE IT ORDAINED by the Council of the City of Charlottesville,, that a new section 
<br />be added to the City Code of 1932, which shall read as follows: 
<br />"SEC. 49�(42a). VENT PIPES FOR GAS APPLIANCES 
<br />All gas water heaters shall be equipped with vent pipes discharging into 
<br />flues or into the open air on the outside of the building. If the Superintendent 
<br />of the Gas Department deems it necessary, he may require similar vent pipes from 
<br />other gas appliances. Appliances requiring vent pipes shall be equipped with a 
<br />draft hood. This section shall not apply to heaters or gas appliances heretofore 
<br />installed." 
<br />This ordinance shall be in force from its passage and all ordinances, or parts of 
<br />ordinances, in conflict herewith are hereby repealed.

<br />AN ORDINANCE AMENDING AND REENACTING SECTION 202 OF THE CITY COD OF 1932 OF THE CITY 
<br />OF CHARLOTTESVILLE, ENTITLED CIVIL AND POLICE JUSTICE - FINES, COSTS AND TRIAL FEES, ETC. 
<br />ACCOUNTING OF. 
<br />BE IT ORDAINED by the Council of the City of Charlottesville, that Section 202 of the 
<br />Code of the City of Charlottesville be amended and reenacted so as to read as follows: 
<br />I 
<br />"Sec. 202. Civil and Police Justice - fines, costs, and trial fees, etc.- 
<br />accounting of. 
<br />' At or before the time of hearing had before such Civil and Police Justice on any 
<br />claim over which the Civil end Police Justice is given jurisdiction, the plaintiff 
<br />in such claim shall pay to said Civil and Police Jutice a trial fee of fifty cents 
<br />for one hundred dollars of value or fraction thereof, claimed in such warrant. The 
<br />trial fee shall be taxed as part of the costs. 
<br />In all criminal cases heard on warrant by the Civil and Police Justice, there 
<br />shall be taxed as a part of the costs a trial fee of $1.00.
