(i) Rough play prohibited. No boisterous, or rough play, except supervised water
<br />sports shall be permitted in the pool, on the runways, diving boards, floats, platforms, or in the
<br />dressing rooms, shower rooms, eto.
<br />(j) Placards to be posted. Suitable placards embodying the above personal regulations and
<br />instructions and those relating to suits and towels must be conspicuously posted in the pool room
<br />or enclosure and in the dressing rooms and offices at all swimming pools.
<br />(8) OPERATING CONTROL.
<br />(a) Trained operators. Each swimming pool shall be operated under the close supervision
<br />of a well trained operator.
<br />(b) Tests for excess chlorine. At any pool where chlorine or hypochlorite of lime or
<br />other chlorine compound is used for disinfection, the operator must be supplied with a proper out-
<br />'
<br />fit for making the orthotolidine test for excess chlorine and with permanent standards shaming
<br />maximum and minimum permissible chlorine in the water. Tests for excess chlorine in the water must
<br />be made by the operator every day that the pool is in use.
<br />(c) Tests for acidity-alkalinity. At any pool inhere alum and sulphate of alumina is
<br />used or where artificial alkalinity is added to the water, the pool operator must be supplied with a
<br />proper outfit for testing for acidity and alkalinity, and must make such tests on the water every day
<br />that the pool is in use.
<br />(d) Operating record. Every pool operator must be supplied with a proper notebook or with
<br />'
<br />blank forms on which shall be recorded every day, the number of persons using the pool, the volume of
<br />new water added, the temperature of the water and the temperature of the air. Whenever a pool is used
<br />by both males and females the number of each and whether adults or children shall also be recorded. At
<br />all pools where artificial circulation, filtration, or any chemical treatment is used a full daily record
<br />must also be kept of the actual time pumps and filters are in operation, of the time each filter is
<br />washed or cleaned, of the time and amount of each chemical used or added, of the time the bottom and
<br />sides of pool are cleaned and the results of all acidity, alkalinity and excess chlorine tests.
<br />(9). SUITS AND TOWELS.
<br />(a) All suits and towels must be washed with soap and boiling water, rinsed and dried each
<br />time they are used. Unless public suits and towels are sent to a public laundry, the management of
<br />all Rimming pools shall be required to install modern laundry facilities for laundering suits and towels.
<br />(10) PENALTY.
<br />Any person, form or corporation, whether as principal or agent, employer or employee, who
<br />violates any of the provisions of this section shall be guilty of a misdemeanor, and each day that
<br />conditions or actions, in violation of this section, shall continue, shall be deemed to be a separate
<br />offense, and for each offense, upon conviction, he shall be punishable by a fine of not less than
<br />twenty-five dollars nor more than five hundred dollars.
<br />This ordinance shall be in force from its passage and all ordinances, or parts of ordinances,

<br />in conflict herewith are hereby repealed*

<br />ANNUAL TAX LEVY IMPOSING TAXES ON PERSONS AND PROPERTY FOR THE PAYMENT OF INTEREST
<br />ON THE CITY DEBT, FOR CREATING A SINKING FUND THEREFOR, FOR THE SUPPORT OF THE
<br />CITY GOVERNMENT AND CITY SCHOOLS, AND FOR OTHER PURPOSES.
<br />BE IT ORDAINED by the Council of the City of Charlottesville that for the year beginning on
<br />the first day of January, 1935, and ending the thirty-first day of December, 1935, and each year
<br />thereafter while this ordinance is in force, the taxes on persons and property for local purposes
<br />shall be as follows: '
<br />GENERAL LEVY:
<br />1. Land, Lots and Buildings.
<br />On tracts of land and lots and improvements thereon, not exempt from taxation, there
<br />shall be a tax of $1.05 (one dollar and five cents) on every $100.00 assessed value thereof
<br />to pay the general operating expenses of the City government and to pay the interest and
<br />sinking fund on the City debt other than schools, and there shall be levied an additional '
<br />tax on every $100.00 assessed value thereof $0.23 (twenty-three cents) to pay the interest
<br />and sinking fund on school bonds and $0.62 (sixty-two cents) for the city schools,
<br />2. Tangible Personal Property.
<br />Upon all tangible personal property as defined by State Tax Law, not exempt from taxation,
<br />there shall be a tax of $1.05 (one dollar and five cents) on every $100.00 assessed value
<br />thereof to pay the general operating expenses of the City government and to pay the interest
<br />and sinking fund on the City debt other than schools, and there shall be levied an additional
<br />tax on every $100.00 assessed value thereof of $0.23 (twenty-three cents) to pay the interest
<br />and sinking fund on the school bonds and $0.62 (sixty-two cents) for the maintenance and
<br />operating of the City schools.
<br />3. Other property.
<br />Upon any tangible personal property not included in the foregoing, which is not exempt
<br />from local taxation, the tax shall be $1.05 (one dollar and five cents) on every $100.00
