196 <br />AN ORDINANCE A34ENDING AND REENACTING SECTION 1+4, ENTITLED <br />"CONTRACTORS" OF THE ANNUAL LICENSE TAX ORDINANCE, ADOPTED MARCH 70 1938, <br />AND SPREAD IN ORDINANCE BOOK 2, PAGE 188. <br />BE IT ORDAINED by the Council of the City of Charlottesville that Section 44, <br />entitled"Contractors?) of the Annual License Tax Ordinance for the year 1938, adopted <br />March 7th, 1938, be amended and reenacted so as to read as follows: <br />44. CONTRACTORS. <br />Every contractor for the privilege of transacting business shall <br />pay a license tax to be ascertained in the following manner: <br />If t'ne gross amount of all orders or contracts for work done in <br />the State aggregate one thousand dollars, or less, he shall pay the sum <br />of ten dollars, and he shall pay one dollar additional on each one thousand <br />dollars in excess of the first one thousand dollars and to the amount of <br />fifteen thousand dollars, and he shall pay fifty cents additional on each <br />one thousand dollars on all orders or contracts in excess of fifteen <br />thousand dollars; which such sums shall be assessed and collected as provided <br />for by the tax laws of the St«te of Virginia, applicable to contractors <br />except as otherwise herein provided. <br />All ordinances or parts of ordinances in conflict herewith are hereby repealed. <br />Clerk <br />Adopted by the Council April 18, 1938 <br />Ayes: Mr. Gleason, Mr. Huff, Mr. Jessup, <br />and Mr. Twyman. <br />Noes: N -One. <br />G President <br />AN ORDINANCE REPEALING SECTION 95 ENTITLED *NON RESIDENT <br />BUSINESS NOT OTHERS"DISE TAXED" OF THE LICENSE TAX ORDINANCE ADOPTED <br />MARCH 7, 1938, AND SPREAD IN ORDINANCE BOOK 2, <br />PAGE 191. <br />BE IT ORDAINED by the Council of the City of Charlottesville that Section 95, <br />entitled "Non Resident Business Not Otherwise Taxed" of the Annual License Tax <br />Ordinance for the year 1938, adopted March 7, 1938, be and the same is hereby <br />repealed. <br />Adopted by the Council April 18, 1938 <br />Ayes: Mr. Gleason, Mr. Huff, Mr. Jessup, <br />and Mr. Twyman. <br />Noes: None. <br />L <br />President <br />AN ORDINANCE AMENDING AND REENACTING SECTION 351 (1) (A) OF THE <br />CITY CODE OF 1932, ENTITLED ?GAS RATES - OPTIONAL'. <br />BE IT ORDAINED by the Council of the City of Châ˘rlottesville that Section 351 (1) <br />(A) of the City Code of 1932, be amended and reenacted so as to read as follows: <br />SEC. 351 (1) B. GAS RATES - OPTIONAL. <br />The following optional gas rates are hereby established: <br />(A). Any customer using gas for cooking and refrigeration, or for cooking <br />and automatic water heating, or for cooking, refrigeration and <br />automatic water heating: <br />1st 700 cu. ft. or less per mo. $1.00 <br />Next 2300 cu. ft. per mo. per M. cu. ft. 1.25 <br />All over 3000 cu. ft. per mo. Per M. cu. ft. .90 <br />(B). Any customer having only a gas refrigerator, or an automatic water <br />heater, or any other type of automatic gas appliance: <br />1st 1000 cu. ft. or less per mo. $1.10 <br />Next 5000 cu. ft. per mo. per M. cu. ft. 1.00 <br />iJext 19,000 cu. ft. per mo. per Y1. cu. ft. .90 <br />All over 25,000 cu. ft. per mo. ger M. cu. ft. .80 <br />1 <br />11 <br />L_ <br />1 <br />
