AN ORDINANCE AMENDING AND REENACTING SECTION 325 OF THE <br /> <br />CODE OF 1932 WITH RESPECT TO LIMITS WITHIN WHICH NO HOGS <br /> <br />MAY BE KEPT - PERMITS TO KEEP HOGS OUTSIDE OF LIMITS - <br /> <br />AND REVOCATION OF PERMITS. <br /> <br />BE IT ORDAINED by the Council of the City of Charlottesville that Section 325 of <br /> <br />the City Code of 1932 be amended and reenacted so as to read as follows: <br /> <br />It shall be unlawful for any person to keep any live hogs, except for <br /> <br />immediate shipment or slaughter within the following boundaries: <br /> <br />Beginning at the point where the City Limits prior to the annexation of 1939 <br /> <br />cross the Free Bridge Road, thence with said City limits in a southerly direction <br /> <br />to Monticello Road, thence in a westerly direction to Monticello Avenue, thence <br /> <br />with Monticello Avenue to the intersection of Monticello Avenue and Meridian Street, <br /> <br />thence along Meridian Street in a southerly direction to Alta Vista Avenue, thence <br /> <br />along Alta Vista Avenue in a westerly direction to Scottsville Road, thence in a <br /> <br />straight line in a westerly direction to the intersection of First Street and <br /> <br />Lankford Avenue, thence with Lankford Avenue in a westerly direction to the entrance <br /> <br />to the greenhouses formerly Lankford, now Valley View, thence due southwest to <br /> <br />Hartman's Mill Road, thence along Hartman's Mill Road in a westerly direction to <br /> <br />Ridge Street, thence crossing Ridge Street in a westerly direction along an alley <br /> <br />nearly opposite the Hartman's Mill Road to Fifth Street, thence along Fifth Street <br /> <br />in a northerly direction to a point where Elm Street, if extended, would cross <br /> <br />Fifth Street, thence along said extension of Elm Street in a westerly direction to <br /> <br />Ninth Street, thence along Ninth Street to Cherry Street, thence in a westerly <br /> <br />direction to Jones Street, thence along Jones Street in a northerly direction to <br /> <br />the Southern Railroad, thence along the Southern Railroad in a westerly direction <br /> <br />to the City line prior to the 1939 annexation, thence along the said City line in <br /> <br />a northerly direction to the Old Barracks Road, thence along the Old Barracks Road <br /> <br />in a southerly direction to the southeast corner of Washington Park, thence in a <br /> <br />northerly direction to Concord Avenue, thence along Concord Avenue to Rose Hill <br /> <br />Street, thence southerly along Rose Hill Street to Charlton Avenue, thence easterly <br /> <br />along Charlton Avenue to the old line of the Southern Railroad, thence northerly <br /> <br />along the old line of the Southern Railroad to the City limits prior to the 1939 <br /> <br />annexation, thence with the said City limits in an easterly direction to St. Clair <br /> <br />Avenue, thence along St. Clair Avenue in a southeasterly direction to Hazel <br /> <br />Street, thence along Hazel Street to the point of beginning. <br /> <br />Hogs may be kept within the City Limits outside of said boundaries only after <br /> <br />permit has been granted by the Chief of Police after approval of the City health <br /> <br />officers. Such permit shall be granted only upon application signed by all owners <br /> <br />of property within two hundred and fifty feet of nearest resident of the place where <br /> <br />such hogs are to be kept. Such permit shall be revoked by the Chief of Police <br /> <br />upon reasonable written complaint signed by three owners of adjoining property or such <br /> <br />permit may be revoked by the Council. <br /> <br />Any violation of this section shall be punished by a fine of not less than <br /> <br />$2.50 nor more than $25.00 for each offense. <br /> <br />Adopted by the Council January 6, 1941 <br /> <br />Ayes: Mr. Gleason, Dr. Haden, Mr. Huff, <br />Mr. Nash, and Mr. Peyton. <br /> <br />Noes: None. <br /> <br />Clerk Signature <br /> <br />President Signature <br /> <br />AN ORDINANCE AMENDING AND REENACTING SECTION 492 (2) OF <br /> <br />THE CITY CODE OF 1932 ENTITLED "SEWER CONNECTION - <br /> <br />APPLICATION FOR - COST, ETC". <br /> <br />BE IT ORDAINED by the Council of the City of Charlottesville, that Section 492(2) <br /> <br />of the City Code of 1932 be amended and reenacted so as to read as follows: <br /> <br />SEC. 492 (2) SEWER CONNECTION - APPLICATION FOR - COST, ETC. <br /> <br />The work of running connecting lines from the City sewer to the property <br /> <br />line of the owner shall be done by the City, but the owner shall pay to the City <br /> <br />therefor $15.00 for each connection. Such connection shall be made only upon <br /> <br />application in writing on a form provided by the City Manager, to whom application <br /> <br />shall be made, and the payment above mentioned shall be made at the time of application. <br /> <br />Adopted by the Council March 3, 1941 <br /> <br />Ayes: Mr. Gleason, Dr. Haden, Mr. Huff, <br />Mr. Nash and Mr. Peyton. <br /> <br />Noes: None. <br /> <br />Clerk Signature <br /> <br />President Signature <br />
