Nash and 11r.-11orris. <br />Noes: None. <br />President <br />AN ORDINANCE AMENDING CHAPTER X, SECTION 70-81, INCLUSIVE, OF THE CITY <br />CODE OF 1932 AND ADDING TO SAID CHAPTER X OF THE SAID CODE, NEW SECTIONS <br />NUMBERED 81(a), 81(b) AND 81(c) AND REPEALING SECTIONS 61 AND 62 OF SAID <br />CITY CODE OF 1932. <br />BE IT ORDAINED by the Council of the City of Charlottesville that Section 61 and <br />62 constituting Chapter VIII of the City Code of 1932 be and the same are hereby repealed. <br />BE IT FURTHER ORDAINED by the Council of the City of C'rn:_rlottesvil-e that Chapter X <br />of the said City Code of 1932, including Sections 70 to 81 inclusive of said Code be <br />amended by striking out the words "City Auditor", or TtAuditortT as the case may be <br />inserting in the place thereof wherever the ti�aortids ttAuditortT or 1TCity Auditor" have <br />heretofore appeared, the words 11Director of Financett and by adding to said chapter, <br />new sections numbered Sections 81(a), 81 (b) and 81(c) which shall read as follows: <br />SEC. 81(a) Director of Finance - Collection of Revenues. <br />Director of Finance shall collect all revenues of the City and moneys from <br />persons owing the same to the City except property taxes, business, professional, <br />and occupational license taxes. <br />He shall cause all gas and water meters to be read and shall notify each <br />debtor of the amount of water and gas bills due by such debtor to the City and <br />that tine amount is due and payable not later than the 15th day after the bill is <br />rendered. He shall supply the Superintendent of Public Utilities with a list of <br />delinquents not later than the 25th day of each month or quarter, as the case may <br />be, except when such days may fall on Sunday, and then on the following day, but <br />the furnishing of such list of delinquents, as aforesaid, shall not relieve the <br />Director of Finance of the responsibility of the collection of said delinquent <br />bills. <br />The Director of Finance shall keep an accurate account of all collections <br />made by him and shall deliver the moneys collected by him daily to the City <br />Treasurer, together with a statement showing the sources from which these funds <br />were derived. <br />SEC. 81(b) Director of Finance - Employees. <br />In the performance of the duties imposed upon the Director of Finance he <br />shall have the power to employ such persons as may be necessary and to fix the <br />salaries of such persons and to require such bond as he may think proper, subject, <br />however, to the approval of the Council, and the persons so employed, shall be <br />directly responsible to the Director of Finance. <br />SEC. 81(c) Director of Finance - General Application of Chapter. <br />Wherever throughout <br />and effect the words TTCi <br />words shall -be construed <br />established and defined, <br />"City Auditor??, or ttCity <br />All ordinances or parts <br />the ordinances of the City of Charlottesville now in force <br />ty Auditor", ?'Auditor" or "City Collectors' now appear, such <br />to refer to the Office of Director of Finance as herein <br />and all duties imposed by such ordinances upon the "AuditortT, <br />CollectorTT shall hereafter be performed by the Director of Finance. <br />3f ordinances in conflict herewith are hereby repealed. <br />Adopted by the Council September 20, 1943 <br />Ayes: 1.1r.
