1 <br />1 <br />i <br />1 <br />The commission shall hold at least one regular meeting in each month, and <br />shall adopt such rules and regulations for the transaction of its business as it <br />may deem necessary, and shall keep a written record of its resolutions, transactions, <br />findings and determinations. <br />SECTION 497 (4) Powers and Duties of Commission. <br />The City Planning Commission shall have such powers and perform such duties as <br />are set forth in Chapter 88 of the Acts of the General Assembly of Virginia of 1934• <br />The Commission shall/noeauthority to charge the City with any liability or to <br />incur any expenses except as the same may be expressly authorized by the Council, <br />and after funds have been appropriated by the Council for the purpose. <br />Any person intending to subdivide for the purpose of selling any land within <br />the City of Charlottesville as to which no plan has been heretofore adopted by the <br />Commission shall submit to the Commission the plan for such subdivision including <br />the layout of streets, location and size of gas, water and sewer lines, and if lots <br />be sold in such subdivision according to any plat or plan not so submitted and <br />approved by the Commission, the City shall be under no obligation to furnish water <br />p4ad gas to occupants of said lots, nor shall the City accept dedication of any street <br />or streets in such subdivision. <br />SECTION 497 (5). Morris, and Mr. Watson. <br />Noes: None. <br />AN ORDINANCE ENTITLED "AN ORDINAANCE ADDING A NEW SECTION TO THE <br />CITY CODE OF 1932, NUMBERED 339 (a) AND ENTITLED ?RESTRICTING <br />THE USE OF CITY WATER'". <br />BE IT ORDAINED by the Council of the City of Charlottesville that a neer section be <br />added to the City Code of 1932 numbered 339 (a) and entitled t'Restricting the Use of City <br />Water't, which shall read as follows: <br />SEC. 339 (a) Restricting the Use of City Water. <br />Due to the emergency existing by reason of shortage of water resulting <br />frora the unusual drought, and in order to conserve water for necessary purposes, <br />it shall be unlawful to use any city water for the purpose of washing automobiles <br />or other vehicles, or for watering lawns, trees, shrubs, gardens, sidewalks or <br />streets, or for filling or replenishing water in swimming pools. It shall also <br />be unlawful to wilfully waste city water. <br />Any violation of this ordinance shall be punished by a fine of not less <br />than $5.00 and not more than X25.00, and the City Manager shall have the right to <br />discontinue supplying water to any person guilty of violation of this ordinance, <br />whether such violation occur within the limits of the City of Charlottesville <br />or outside said City Limits. 0 <br />This ordinance shall be in force from its passage and shall remain in force <br />until such time as the Council may declare t%lat the emergency shall have ceased <br />to exist. <br />xal� <br />Clerk 6 <br />Adopted by the Council August 21, 1944 <br />Ayes: Mr. Adams, r.
