operated in whole or in part in the City of Charlottesville shall be as <br /> <br />follows: <br /> <br />For the transportation of one or more passengers from the same <br /> <br />point of origin to the same destination.............................40¢ <br /> <br />provided however, that if either the point of origin or the destination <br /> <br />be in the territory annexed to the City January 1, 1939 the maximum <br /> <br />fare shall..........................................................50¢ <br /> <br />For the transportation of two or more passengers from the same <br /> <br />point of origin to two or more different destinations within the <br /> <br />present City Limits................................................35¢ <br /> <br />shall be paid by or for the passengers alighting at each destination. <br /> <br />A schedule of the above maximum rates shall be posted in every <br /> <br />passenger vehicle operated for hire within the City at a point easily <br /> <br />visible to the passenger, and such schedule shall be printed in such <br /> <br />form and such type as the Chief of Police shall prescribe. <br /> <br />This ordinance shall be in force from and after February 8, 1944. <br /> <br />Adopted by the Council February 7, 1944. <br /> <br />Ayes: Mr. Adams, Mr. Gleason, Mr. Morris, <br /> <br />and Mr. Watson. <br /> <br />Noes: None. <br /> <br />President <br /> <br />AN ORDINANCE AMENDING AND REENACTING SECTION 344 OF THE <br /> <br />CODE OF 1932 AS HERETOFORE AMENDED WITH REFERENCE TO <br /> <br />WATER RATES <br /> <br />BE IT ORDAINED by the Council of the City of Charlottesville that Section <br /> <br />344 of the City Code of 1932, as amended, and entitled "Water Rates", be and <br /> <br />the same is hereby amended and reenacted so as to read as follows: <br /> <br />SEC. 344 WATER RATES. <br /> <br />Water Rates shall be as follows: <br /> <br />DOMESTIC RATES <br /> <br /> Per 1000 cu. ft. <br /> <br /> <br />Minimum Charge per month or fractional part thereof.... $ 1.00 <br /> <br />First 1,000 cu. ft..................................... 2.62½ <br /> <br />Next 1,000 cu. ft. to 2,000 cu. ft..................... 2.25 <br /> <br />Next 1,000 cu. ft. to 3,000 cu. ft..................... 1.50 <br /> <br />Next 1,000 cu. ft. to 4,000 cu. ft..................... 1.12½ <br /> <br />Next 6,000 cu. ft. to 10,000 cu. ft.................... .90 <br /> <br />Next 20,000 cu. ft. to 30,000 cu. ft................... .82½ <br /> <br />All over 30,000 cu. ft................................ .60 <br /> <br />FACTORY RATES <br /> <br />Minimum Charge per month or fractional part thereof.... $ 1.00 <br /> <br />First 1,000 cu. ft..................................... 2.62½ <br /> <br />Next 1,000 cu. ft. to 2,000 cu. ft..................... 2.25 <br /> <br />Next 1,000 cu. ft. to 3,000 cu. ft..................... 1.50 <br /> <br />Next 1,000 cu. ft. to 4,000 cu. ft..................... 1.12½ <br /> <br />Next 6,000 cu. ft. to 10,000 cu. ft.................... .90 <br /> <br />Next 20,000 cu. ft. to 30,000 cu. ft................... .82½ <br /> <br />All over 30,000 cu. ft................................ .60 <br /> <br />The rates for consumers outside of the corporate limits shall be <br /> <br />100 per cent in addition to the above named rates. Each new consumer <br /> <br />shall pay a connection charge of $100.00 in advance and shall execute <br /> <br />such water contract as may be required by the City Manager. <br /> <br />All water accounts shall be due and payable monthly on or before the <br /> <br />fifteenth day after a statement is rendered. The City Collector shall have <br /> <br />the right to disconnect and cease furnishing water to any consumer who is de- <br /> <br />linquent in the payment of his or her account after the fifteenth day subsequent <br /> <br />to the rendering of a statement. <br /> <br />If any water meter shall fail to register, the charge shall be the average <br /> <br />reading for the three preceding months. <br /> <br />This section shall not apply to special contracts for the consumption of <br /> <br />water which have been authorized by the Council. <br /> <br />This ordinance shall be in full force and effect from March 1, 1944, and all <br /> <br />ordinances or parts of ordinances in conflict herewith, are hereby repealed. <br /> <br />Adopted by the Council February 21, 1944 <br /> <br />Ayes: Mr. Adams, Mr. Gleason, Mr. Huff, <br /> <br />and Mr. Watson. <br /> <br />Noes: None. <br /> <br />Clerk Signature <br />Presidnet Signature
