<br />Sec. 30. Installation of Joints, Connections, Fittings,
<br />(a)All joints on cast iron pipe shall be eithei,the
<br />' nel•ica i Standard threaded screw joint or caulked j okit�.
<br />=; sulked joints on all cast iron drain, soil, waste or
<br />' must be made by packing the hub with picked
<br />T-Atl'!#nd run with molten pure pig lead and hand caulked

<br />(c) All egnnection on the sewer side of ak-,- fixtures
<br />traps shall be' -screwed, ground faced, or caulllid joints.
<br />Washer slip joints will be permitted on the t- stilet side
<br />of traps.
<br />(d) Floor flanges for water closets shall be fast iron
<br />not less than one-fourth inch thick. Brass fixttge traps
<br />A constructed in whole or in part of brass tubing, sgdd brass
<br />tubing must be of not less than 17 gauge. ':1:
<br />(e) Drainage fittings shall be of cast iron or brass
<br />recessed with threads tapped out of solid metal, with a
<br />• smooth interior water way, galvanized or black.

<br />. j Sec. 31. Plumbing Fixtures, Lavatories, Bath Tubs, Urinals,
<br />_ 7 Traps, Water Closets, Etc.
<br />(a) No plumbing fixture, device or construction shall
<br />` be installed which will provide a cross connection between
<br />a distributing system of water for drinking and domestic
<br />purposes and a drainage system, soil or waste pipes so as
<br />to permit or make poossible the back flow of sewage or
<br />waste into the water supply system.
<br />(b) All lavatories, bath tubs and urinals shall be of
<br />vitreous china or porcelain enameled ware. Sinks and
<br />laundry trays shall be of some non-absorbent material,
<br />except in manufacturing establishments, where wood sinks
<br />=. may be used if approved by the plumbing inspector.
<br />(c) Every fixture shall have a separate trap main-
<br />taining a water seal of not less than two or more than four
<br />inches. All traps must be placed as near the fixture as
<br />practicable; except in cases where two wash basins are
<br />�- set with outlets not more than two feet apart; combination
<br />sink and laundry tray, or sectional laundry trays, where
<br />one trap will be permitted. No trap to be placed beneath
<br />the floor for any fixture except b,.th tubs, showers or
<br />other fixtures that � sitar -the floor level: All- traps must
<br />be of brass or cast iron: The size of trap to conform with
<br />the following table:

<br />. (d) Every fixture trap must be protected against
<br />Vyphonage and back pressure, and air circulation assured
<br />ly means of vent or back vent, a soil or waste stack vent,
<br />-in continuous waste or soil vent, or a loop or circuit vent

<br />(e) No trap shall be placed more than five feet hori-
<br />zontal developed length, from its vent. Except in case of
<br />basement floor drains and catch basins, these may be
<br />extended- 20 feet before being vented.

<br />gpted type and fitted with open front seats less cover `or
<br />other approved type.
