�J <br />0 <br />0 <br />Ln <br />Q <br />i <br />40 <br />0 <br />September 2, 19/+7 <br />To the Members of the City Council <br />Charlottesville, Virginia <br />Gentlemen: <br />As instructed, your committee has investigated the <br />Westwood request of Mr. Hunter Faulconer to take over certain roads in <br />Westwood development but, due to the fact that there are so few <br />houses on these streets and the surface is in rather bad shape, <br />we do not recommend that we accept dedication at the present time. <br />Respectfully submitted, <br />Seth Burnley ( signed) <br />SB:gbh C. Nash (signed) <br />A petition from the property owners and residents of John Street requesting <br />John & that the proposed extension of Page Street to John Street be dropped from further <br />Page consideration was presented. Mr. Jessie Wood of Waynesboro, Virginia, advised the <br />Streets <br />Council that he was interested in developing the property owned by Mr. Joe Goldsten <br />in this vicinity and suggested that the streets not be connected. A motion by Mr. <br />Gleason, seconded by Mr. Nash, that a committee be appointed to investigate the <br />advisability of connecting John and Page Streets, and to confer with the property <br />owner to determine if the necessary right-of-way can be secured for connecting <br />John and Page Streets. The Mayor appointed Mr. Nash, Mr. Watson, and the City <br />Manager to serve on this committee. <br />Va. Tel. A report from the City Manager in regard to the rates charged by the Virginia <br />& Tel. Telephone & Telegraph Company in this city was presented and ordered filed with the <br />Co. <br />minutes of this meeting. <br />On motion by Mr. Watson, seconded by Mr. Nash, the following report was un- <br />animously adopted: <br />September 2, 191+7 <br />To the Members of the City Council <br />Charlottesville, Virginia <br />Gentlemen: <br />Fire Hydrant- I have investigated the request for a fire hydrant <br />Cynthianna on Cynthianna Avenue, and I recommend that a hydrant be <br />Avenil® installed as soon as we can put the ditcher a.nd work force <br />on this street. <br />SB: gbh <br />Respectfully submitted, <br />Seth Burnley ( signed) <br />City Manager <br />Mr. Gleason advised the Council that the Gas Committee had met to consider <br />the advisability of purchasing an electric precipitator for use at the Gas Plant <br />Gas as recommended by the City Manager. He stated that Mr. Fahey met with the Committee <br />Plant <br />and advised that it would not be necessary to purchase a such machine at this time <br />if an additional gas line was constructed between the plant and the relief holder. <br />Mr. Fahey also advised that he would confer with the Lynchburg Gas Company, who <br />own but do not new.need, a machine of this type, to determine if it could be secured <br />by the City of Charlottesville in the event it becomes necessary to use one at the <br />gas plant. <br />On motion by Mr. Gleason, seconded by Mr. Watson, the following resolution was <br />unanimously adopted: <br />BE IT RESOLVED by the Council of the City of Charlottesville that $125.00 - <br />Colored <br />Nursery or as much thereof as may be necessary be and the same is hereby appropriated <br />for water, gas and electricity at the Colored Nursery on Commerce St. <br />2ft <br />Y <br />
