COUNCIL CHAMBER, SEPTEMBER 18, 1947 <br />• The (%ouncil met in regular session on this date with the following members <br />present: Mr. Adams, Mr. Nash, Mr. Tebell, and Mr. Watson. <br />Minutes of the meeting of September 2, 1947, were read and approved. <br />Mr. Walker Williams addressed the Council on behalf of the Kiwanis Club and <br />requested that no license tax be charged the Kiwanis Club for the operation of <br />Kiwanis its "Karnival" at McIntire Softball Field during the week commencing September 29, <br />rrI$arn ival" <br />1947. A motion by Mr. Watson, seconded by fir. Nash, that the Kiwanis "Karnival" <br />be classified as of a "non-profit" nature under Section 125(c) of the License Tax <br />Ordinance, was unanimously adopted. <br />On motion by Mr. Nash, seconded by Mr. Watson, the following resolution was <br />unanimously adopted: <br />BE IT RESOLVED by the Council of the City of Charlottesville that <br />• Herndon the City accept dedication of the street in the subdivision known as <br />Road <br />Rugby Woods and designated on the said plat as Herndon Road. <br />On motion by Mr. Watson, seconded by Mr. Tebell, the following resolution <br />C) <br />was unanimously adopted: <br />CQ <br />BE IT RESOLVED by the Council of the City of Charlottesville that <br />dedication of Mason Lane from Stonefield Lane to Herndon Road be and the <br />Mason <br />Lane <br />same is hereby accepted, provided, the property owner, Mr. George W. <br />Scrimshaw, agrees to pay one-half of the total cost of surface -treating <br />said ;mason Lane, or, the sum of three hundred fifty dollars (6350.00) <br />whichever amount is the smaller. <br />On motion by Mr. Tebell, seconded by Mr. N ash, the following sidewalk <br />applications were approved for construction: <br />Estimated Property Ownerst City's <br />Name Location _ Cost Proportion Portion <br />Sidewalks <br />Mrs. S. E. �6o.00 .40.00 20.00 <br />John Minor Market Street 30.00 20.00 10.00 <br />On motion by Mr. Tebell, seconded by Mr. N ash, the following County water <br />applications were approved: <br />County <br />Mary Griffith Fitzhugh Maury Hills <br />Water <br />Elizabeth Brown Wheeler Route 250. <br />Connections <br />A communication from W. T. Gimbert relative to sewer and water at Knoll <br />Water - <br />Knoll <br />Terrace, outside the City, was presented. On motion this matter was carried <br />Terrace <br />over for consideration. <br />On motion by Mr. Nash, seconded by Mr. Watson, the following resolution was <br />unanimously adopted: <br />BE IT RESOLVED by the Council of the City of Charlottesville that <br />Frackelton - <br />Property in <br />the City Attorney be authorized to file answer to bill of Decca G. <br />Preston Hgts. <br />Frackelton to quiet title to portion of the Preston Heights property <br />disclaiming any interest of the City in the streets involved. <br />On motion by Mr. Tebell, seconded by Mr. Watson, the following report <br />0 <br />was unanimously adopted: <br />
