AYES: MR. AiDAMS, MR. GLEASON, MR. NASH, MR. TEBELL AND MR. <br />METERS <br />INATSON. NOES: NONE, <br />STREET <br />ON <br />MOTION <br />THE CITY MANAGER WAS INSTRUCTED TO <br />PREPARE ESTIMATES AND SECURE <br />WORK <br />BIDS FOR <br />STREET <br />WORK TO BE DONE IN 1948. <br />ON <br />MOTION <br />BY MR. WATSON, SECONDED BY MR. WATSON. <br />MINUTES OF THE MEETING OF JANUARY 5, 1948 WERE READ AND APPROVED. <br />THE FOLLOWING REPORT WAS PRESENTED: <br />JANUARY 9, 1948 <br />TO MEIIABERS OF THE BOARD OF COUNTY SUPERVISORS OF <br />ALBEMARLE COUNTY, VIRGINIA <br />AND <br />THE COMMISSIONERS OF THE CITY OF CHARLOTTESVILLE <br />GENTLEMEN: <br />AIRPORT VIE THE UNDERSIGNED, MEMBERS OF THE JOINT COMMITTEE OF <br />THE CITY AND COUNTY, NAMED TO STUDY THE AIR PORT PLANS SUB— <br />MITTED BY THE AVIATION COMMITTEE OF THE CHAMBER OF COP.rtMERCE, <br />RECO 1MEND THAT YOU DO NOT APPROPRIATE A15,000.00 TO PROCEED <br />WITH STEPS ONE AND TWO IN REGARD TO THE AIR PORT AS OUTLINED <br />BY THEa1. <br />VVI, WARREN V400D „� S 1 GNED <br />W. GLEASON, THAT THE FOREGOING REPORT BE ADOPTED. <br />APPROXIMATELY FORTY CITIZENS FROM CHARLOTTESVILLE AND ALBEMARLE COUNTY ADDRESSED THE <br />COUNCIL, AND WITH ONE EXCEPTION, URGED THAT THE REPORT BE REJECTED AND THAT THE CITY <br />AND COUNTY PROCEED WITH STEPS ONE AND TWO OF THE PROPOSAL AS SUBMITTED BY THE AVIATION <br />COMMITTEE OF THE CHAMBER OF COMMERCE. AFTER CONSIDERABLE DISCUSSION THE REPORT WAS <br />UNANIMOUSLY ADOPTED. <br />MR. G1LBERT CAMPBELL ADDRESSED THE COUNCIL AND URGED THAT A RESOLUTION BE PRE— <br />MONTICELLO PARED AND FORWARDED TO THE PROPER AUTHORITIES URGING THAT THE MONTICELLO MEMORIAL <br />MEMORIAL <br />H IGHWAY HIGHWAY BE CONSTRUCTED FROM WASHINGTON TO P�IONT 1 CELLO. ON MOTION BY MR. TEBELL, <br />SIDEWALK <br />CURB & <br />GUTTER <br />COUNTY <br />WATER <br />CONNECTION <br />SECONDED BY MR. GLEASON, THE fvlAYOR AND CITY ATTORNEY WERE REQUESTED TO PREPARE A SUCH <br />RESOLUTION AND FORWARD THE SAME TO THE PROPER AUTHORITIES. <br />ON MOTION BY MR. GLEASON, SECONDED BY IMR.
