M. A. CUSHMAN AND THE CUSHMAN-V I RG i N 1 A <br />CORPORATION REQUESTING REZONING OF A CERTAIN AREA BETWEEN WEST MAIN <br />STREET AND WERTLAND STREET, FROM TENTH STREET, N. W. TO TWELFTH <br />STREET, N. W. , FROM A-1 RESIDENCE TO B-1 BUSINESS, WAS REFERRED TO <br />THE PLANNING COMMISSION FOR STUDY AND REPORT* <br />ON MOTION THE MATTER WITH RESPECT TO THE CHILDREN'S HOME LOT <br />WAS CARRIED OVER TO THE NEXT REGULAR MEETING. <br />THE CITY MANAGER ADVISED THAT HE HAD INQUIRED INTO THE MATTER <br />REGARDING THE INCREASE IN COST OF LIABILITY INSURANCE ON THE GAS <br />DEPARTMENT AND HAD BEEN INFORMED THAT THE INCREASE IN PREMIUM WAS <br />DUE TO THE FACT THAT THE INSURORS WERE UNABLE TO OBTAIN BACKING IN <br />THE REWRITING OF THIS TYPE INSURANCE. HE STATED THAT THE BINDER <br />CARRIED ON THIS POLICY HAD NOW EXPIRED* A MOT ION BY MR. HADEN, <br />SECONDED BY MR. TEBELL, THAT THE CITY MANAGER BE INSTRUCTED TO CANCEL <br />THE PRESENT POLICY FOR LIABILITY INSURANCE ON THE GAS DEPARTMENT AND <br />TO SET UP A FUND TO BE ACCUMULATED FROM ANNUAL CONTRIBUTIONS BASED <br />ON FUTURE PREVAILING ANNUAL PREMIUMS AS CHARGED BY THE INSURANCE <br />COMPANY UNTIL SUCH TIME AS THE TOTAL ANNUAL CONTRIBUTIONS EQUAL THE <br />TOTAL LIABILITY INSURANCE HERETOFORE CARRIED ON THE GAS DEPARTMENT, <br />WAS UNANIMOUSLY ADOPTED* <br />ON MOTION THE FOLLOWING REPORT WAS UNANIMOUSLY ADOPTED: <br />FEBRUARY 189 1952 <br />TO THE MEMBERS OF THE COUNCIL <br />CITY OF CHARLOTTESVILLE, VA. <br />GENTLEMEN: <br />YOUR COMMITTEE MET WITH THE TAXICAB OPERATORS OF THIS <br />CITY TO HEAR THEIR REQUEST FOR A CHANGE IN THE TAXI RATES. <br />AFTER CONSIDERABLE DISCUSSION AND CONSIDERATION YOUR COMMITTEE <br />RECOMMENDS THAT SECTION 92 OF CHAPTER 18 OF THE CITY CODE <br />BE CHANGED TO READ AS FOLLOWS: <br />„SECTION 92. MAXIMUM RATES; POSTING SCHEDULE <br />THE MAXIMUM RATES TO BE CHARGED BY PASSENGER <br />MOTOR VEHICLES FOR HIRE OPERATED IN WHOLE OR IN <br />PART IN THE CITY SHALL BE AS FOLLOWS: <br />FOR THE TRANSPORTATION OF ONE OR MORE <br />PASSENGERS WITHIN THE CITY LIMITS THE CHARGE FOR <br />EACH TRIP SHALL BE . . . .
